A New Year… a New "Language"

Reading does not, by itself, guarantee understanding. For the Youth Aliyah students in the Joy of Judaism course, Hebrew is the beginning of their search for understanding their Jewish roots.
From diverse backgrounds within Israel and elsewhere, Jewish identity has often been a burden and mystery. They now choose to study with skilled teachers and take pride in being part of the Jewish People.

"My name is Liav. I participated in the Beit Hamidrash program. I will never forget what we learned. Together we created an amazing integration between the glorious Jewish past and today. We began studying Pirke Avot, Mishna and other subjects that made us feel connected to our people's roots. We feel we have become better people living in a society of equality despite disagreements. It was difficult to determine who was right, but with listening and accepting other people's opinions we compromised and reached an agreement.

'Each one can contribute to the society we wish to live in. This way we will be a strong, loving, united, and supportive people. This is not a promise for the future, but for now. So let's roll up our sleeves and begin the work for our country and our people. "

Through this curriculum, students see themselves as the inheritors of a rich, meaningful culture.
As we begin our new year, these students' satisfaction, self worth and belonging confirm Hadassah's Success: One life at a time…
