Stamford's Hadassah Celebrates 100 Years
In Connecticut, centennial celebrations have been ongoing since February 24, 2012 when Hadassah turned 100. To continue in the revelry of being 100 years strong, Stamford Hadassah invited the community to join for a centennial bash. The iconic “Henrietta” bid all to join her for a fun, pre-summer party at KOSH (Kosher American Bistro) Monday evening, June 4th, 2012 and ‘paint the town red’ in honor of the extraordinary work Hadassah accomplishes here in the States, in Israel and globally.

Over 65 men and women gathered at KOSH to honor founder Szold as the restaurant and Glenn Karow (proprietor) partnered with Hadassah launching new menu item, the “Henrietta Szold”. Folks dined out, enjoyed KOSH’s “delicious” food, knowing that a percentage of the evening’s proceeds would be donated by KOSH to benefit Hadassah. Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia, on hand to kick off the evening, welcomed all and helped to launch this new menu item. Later in the evening, Barbara Spack, Hadassah National Chair of Marketing and Communications, inspired each and every one when she spoke about the extraordinary work accomplished by Hadassah as well as the many heartwarming stories that are a result of Hadassah’s ongoing programs and efforts. (Hadassah Medical Organization, Youth Aliyah, Young Judaea and all the wonderful programs of the organization stateside and in Israel.)
Known for being on the forefront of medical research and advocacy, Hadassah began with two nurses providing healthcare in the fledgling Jewish settlement of Palestine. Fittingly today, 100 years young, the organization prides itself on continuing in its mission to heal and serve. Henrietta Szold surely would be proud of all we are achieving in 2012. As she famously said, “There is no ending that is not also a beginning.”
And with this centennial beginning comes a new invitation. All supporters, friends, Hadassah members and associates are welcome to attend Centennial Celebrations; to toast Hadassah’s Centennial personally and connect to Hadassah’s mission both here in Stamford and at Convention this coming October in Jerusalem, when Hadassah formally dedicates newest state of the art citadel of healing, the Sarah Wetsman Davidson Tower.
