Art at Hadassah

Soothing the soul is as important as healing the body at Hadassah. Thousands of works of art, in every material and genre—sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, kinetic, fiber, mixed media—enhance the public spaces and grounds of Hadassah's hospitals at Ein Kerem and Mount Scopus. Their presence provides a calming environment both for people suffering pain and illness and the staff that care for them, often in stressful situations.

Celebrated Artists

Marc Chagall's famous stained glass windows—each representing one of the 12 tribes of Israel—encircle the Abbell Synagogue at Hadassah Ein Kerem in breathtaking beauty. Other works at Ein Kerem include pieces by celebrated artists like Chaim Gross, whose Mother and Child statue stands in Miriam's Garden, Raul Dufy's The Wind in the Trees, and The Circus by Emmanuel Mane-Katz. Whimsical and colorful works can be found throughout the Charlotte R. Bloomberg Mother and ChildCenter. Aharon Bezalel's extraordinary Nursing Mother sculpture invites contemplation and quiets the soul. The Tree of Life, the last work of sculptor Jacques Lipshitz, welcomes visitors to Hadassah Mount Scopus. In the Memorial Garden there, Zvi Aldouby's Yizkor statue stands in tribute to those who died in the Mount Scopus medical convoy in 1948. Six exuberant Alexander Calder tapestries, created in celebration of America's 1976 bicentennial, were woven using centuries old techniques in Aubusson, France.
