Moshe Kahlon speaks at Hadassah Neurim Tuesday, June 19.
On Tuesday, June 19, Moshe Kahlon , Minister of Communications and Minister of Welfare and Social Services visited Hadassah Neurim, where he graduated in 1978.
"I couldn't have made it in public service without the lessons in community responsibility that I received while a student here," said Kahlon.
He recounted how he grew up in the Givat Olga section of Hadera, one of seven children of Libyan immigrants, and how he was prepared for the IDF and higher education at Hadassah-Neurim where he lived and went to high school before enlisting in the IDF.
Hadassah Neurim was established in an vacant British military base on the Mediterraean shore north of Netanya to absorb the children evacuated from the Ben Shemen village. For 60 years it has been supported by Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, and the Jewish Agency.
Said Barbara Goldstein, Deputy Director of Hadassah's Israel Offices: "I always tell every graduating class that one of you will become a leader of the Jewish people. Today we have a great example."Date: 6/20/2012 12:00:00 AM
