Celebrating the Ta Tas in North Carolina

The members of Hadassah’s Charlotte, NC chapter wanted to raise money for breast cancer research at Hadassah Medical Center. They wanted to do it in an innovative and unforgettable way—and they did!

One hundred cancer survivors, models, artists, photographers, doctors and vendors joined Hadassah members and friends from the greater Charlotte community to learn about the fight against breast cancer and to “Celebrate the Ta Tas.”

Women guests were escorted to a luxurious black velvet booth where their personal artists awaited them. Female artists created original works of art while listening to the women's personal stories and dreams. When the paintings were completed, female photographers took amazing photos (from above the belly button to below the chin.) The result: a spectacular work of art. In the process, Hadassah Charlotte created a coalition with local OB/GYNs, radiologists and a Presbyterian mammogram Mobil unit. They were all available for women and open to the public.

Every women left with a smile and the feedback was gratifying. Survivors and participating women said they felt beautiful, special and eager to participate in this program again.

On November 3rd, the Celebrate the Ta Tas artistic photographs were exhibited, and survivors told their stories—in person and via video—of courage and optimism.

And a record amount was raised for breast cancer research at Hadassah Medical Organization.
