Hadassah Applauds Votes Against Abortion Ban and for Embryonic Stem Cell Research
HADASSAH APPLAUDS VOTES AGAINST ABORTION BAN AND FOR EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH
(New York, NY -- November 08, 2006) -- In a statement today, June Walker, National President of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, had this to say:
“Today, all Americans can take great pride in our electoral process and our democratic way of life. Yesterday, voters in every state across the union expressed their opinions on matters of great concern to all Americans. We particularly commend the efforts of Hadassah members in both South Dakota and Missouri, who worked tirelessly – and successfully – for what they believe in. In South Dakota, Hadassah members led the charge to defeat a ballot initiative to ban abortion; in Missouri, Hadassah members were likewise instrumental in preserving the right to pursue embryonic stem cell research.
“Hadassah members have proved time and again that they are part of one of the most powerful grassroots organizations in this country. By organizing issue forums, working in coalitions with other like-minded organizations and rolling up their sleeves to participate in phone banks, they got out the vote on these issues. We applaud their efforts and the results.”
