Dr. William Danforth To Be Honored By Hadassah For His Advocacy Of Embryonic Stem Cell Research

WHO: Dr. William Danforth will be honored for his role in the passage of the Missouri Stem Cell Amendment in 2006.  Guest Speakers, Professors Benjamin Reubinoff and Shlomo Mor-Yosef, from Hadassahs Medical Organization in Jerusalem, will share the dynamic strides being made with embryonic stem cell research.
WHAT: Framing the Future will be an extraordinary opportunity to hear about emerging treatments for seriously debilitating diseases.  This will be an evening of informative discussion, followed by a seated dinner and Q&A.

St. Louis, MO – August 2010   Hadassah will honor Dr. William Danforth at Framing the Future on Sunday, September 26 at the Danforth Plant Science Center.  Danforth is being recognized for his role in the passage of the Missouri Stem Cell Amendment protecting Missourians from any attempt to ban stem cell research and therapies that are permitted under federal law and available to other Americans. Unencumbered by legal or political ramifications, Hadassah Medical Organization has moved forward at a striking pace using embryonic stem cells to find cures for Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Macular Degeneration, MS, ALS, Diabetes and more.

Ambassador Sam and Marilyn Fox are the Honorary Chairs of Framing the Future and Paul and Diane Gallant are the Event Chairs.  The Presenting Sponsor is the Fox Family Foundation.  The evening begins at 5:30 PM with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and then guests will move into the auditorium for the presentation to Dr. Danforth and to hear from Professor Benjamin Reubinoff and Professor Shlomo Mor-Yosef.  Guests will then enjoy a seated dinner and have a chance to ask questions of the speakers.  Following dinner, a private VIP Coffee and Cordials will be held for sponsors, the honoree and speakers.  Patron Tickets are $500 per person and Benefactor Tickets are $250 per person. THE SPEAKERS
Professor Benjamin Reubinoff, Director of Hadassah’s Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research Center, will showcase specific advances and clinical trials developed with astounding results.

Prof. Reubinoff and Hadassah Research Center’s scientific accomplishments and contribution to the field are recognized worldwide in the field of stem cell research. They were the first to document that under specific culture conditions, human embryonic stem cells could be differentiated into a mixture of mature cells including muscle and nerve cells. Using those research results, they then demonstrated that human embryonic stem cells improved the functioning of a rat with Parkinson's disease.

Globally acclaimed as a leader in the promising field of human embryonic stem cell research, Prof. Reubinoff has received numerous awards. His accomplishments have been widely published in leading medical journals and he is widely sought after as a speaker at international scientific and medical conferences.

Prof. Shlomo Mor-Yosef is the Director General of Hadassahs Medical Organization and was a fellow at the Harvard University Institute of Economics and Social Policy of the Middle East. He has authored more than 100 scientific publications and has served on the faculty of several universities and boards of various organizations and companies. Among his present responsibilities, Prof. Mor-Yosef is Chairman of Hadasit, the Technology Transfer Company of Hadassah Medical Organization and serves as Chairman of the Board of the Israel National Institute for Health Policy and Health Services Research.
