Memo to: Nancy
Thank you for the honor of representing National Hadassah at
this morning’s Human Rights Day Rally to Free Gilad Shalit.
It was an exciting morning, to say the least. I had the
pleasure of meeting Congressman Jerrold Nadler, Congresswomen Carolyn Maloney
and Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, as well as representatives from some of the rally
- American Association of Jewish Lawyers & Jurists:
Stephen Greenwald (president) and Marc Landis (Board Member)
- World Jewish Congress: Betty Ehrenberg (executive
- Stand With Us: Avi Posnick (regional coordinator)
After the rally, I was invited to join my esteemed
colleagues as we visited the International Committee of the Red Cross offices
where Stephen presented a letter written by the American Association of Jewish
Lawyers & Jurists and Avi presented petitions to ICRC Delegate Pierre
Dorbes. We then shared our concerns with Mr. Dorbes who explained to us what
the ICRC has done and will continue to do to obtain access to Gilad
Please find a copy of my speech below.
Again, it was my privilege and honor to represent our
beloved organization and I hope I made you proud this morning. I will forward photos taken at the event
to you for Hadassah’s use.
