- High Holiday Services on Shalom TV
- For the first time on national cable television, Jewish High Holiday services will be carried across the country on Shalom TV, the free Video on Demand Jewish cable network available in more than 38 million homes. Designed for those unable to attend a synagogue service, the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur congregational programs begin airing on Shalom TV the week of September 5.
- Gilad Shalit
- On August 28, Gilad will mark his 24th birthday – his fifth in captivity. The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations is launching a new website, www.giladgreetings.org, to provide people across the United States, in Israel and around the world a vehicle to express their solidarity with Gilad and his family.
- A Lion With a Prison Past
- It’s not every day that an official Israel Prison escort vehicle pulls up at our doors — especially not one bringing a large paper-mâché sculpture of a lion – but that’s exactly what happened yesterday at Hadassah-Ein Kerem.
- A Multiple Miracle
- A few weeks ago, 33-year-old Sarah gave birth to premature but healthy twin girls at Hadassah-Mt. Scopus. Twins are no longer an unusual event in our busy maternity wards, but Sarah’s story is unique – and her daughters, a special legacy.
- Hadassah Honors 10 Miami Women With 2010 Judith Epstein Young Leadership Award
- Ten women from the Galim Chapter, Greater Miami Region, won the 2010 Judith Epstein Young Leadership Award for their community project, Moonwalk Back to the ‘80s. The award was presented on July 25 by Kathy Hershfield, Young Women’s chair, at Hadassah’s National Convention in Hollywood, FL. Hadassah presents this honor each year to young leaders whose community project most successfully promotes Hadassah.
- Susan G. Komen For The Cure® & Hadassah Team Up For Israel Breast Cancer Campaign, October 25-29, 2010
- SAVE THE DATE: The centerpiece of the week is the first Susan G. Komen Israel Race for the Cure® around the walls of Old Jerusalem on October 28. Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat will help lead the Race. “As a runner myself, I know the power of these events to unite people toward a common purpose,” Barkat said. “I am honored to open the gates of our unique city to any and all people who want to see a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime."
Youth Aliyah/Children at Risk
Hadassah-supported Youth Aliyah/Children at Risk sets Israel's disadvantaged children on the path to a successful future. Since 1934, over 300,000 young people from 80 lands have graduated from Youth Aliyah. Young immigrants and "at-risk" native Israelis, many of whom are victims of abuse, receive counseling, education, supportive services in Youth Aliyah day centers, and youth villages. From Hebrew language lessons and classes on Jewish heritage to athletic opportunities and art programs, Youth Aliyah students are given the extra help and attention they need to become productive members of Israeli society.

CENTENNIAL STORY
"If we are Zionists…what is the good of meeting and talking and drinking tea? Let us do something real and practical—let us organize the Jewish women of America and send nurses and doctors to Palestine." — Henrietta Szold, Feb. 24, 1912, the day Hadassah was founded, to 38 women gathered at Temple EmanuEl, New York City
And so they did.

News from Hadassah Medical Organization
- Hadassah's New Cyclotron
- It is 2.00 a.m. on Friday, May 28. Gently swaying in the floodlights high above the heads of those tensely watching, is $1.7 million in machinery — two D-shaped disks linked by a giant magnet. A sturdy crane is cautiously winching this newly arrived cyclotron particle accelerator above the radiation-proof bunker that will be its home, to lower it inside through an opening in the bunker-roof.
- A Heart to Heart Experience from HMO

- A View Of Hadassah Hospital Through The Eyes Of A Patient's Grandchild
- Two years ago, while celebrating Israel's 60th birthday in Israel, I remember wondering if I would one day celebrate Israel's 100th birthday in Israel, too. Morbid as it may sound, I wondered if I would be around for the occasion, and furthermore if I would be fortunate enough to be in Israel. It suddenly struck me that I could ask the same question about Israel itself: would Israel be around on its 100th birthday?
