Hadassah Archives

Preserving materials that document the founding, development and achievements of Hadassah since its inception in 1912, the Hadassah Archives is our organization's primary resource for historical information about Hadassah.

The collection reflects the history of Hadassah's projects in Israel, as well as the growth of the programs in Jewish Education, Zionist Education, and Health Education that have been developed for Hadassah members in the United States.

The Hadassah Archives is housed at the American Jewish Historical Society, at the Center for Jewish History.

We work with scholars from around the world who incorporate Hadassah's history into their research. This history is important to outside researchers because of Hadassah's connection to the world Zionist community, the international medical community, women's issues, and the development of the State of Israel.

Within our own organizational ranks we answer questions from the National Board and staff members, who are aware of the importance of acknowledging the past when planning future projects, campaigns, and  publications. Similarly, we are available to all members seeking historical information for chapter and regional programs, presentations, and projects.

We invite you to explore Hadassah's history in the pages listed below, to search the electronic catalog or to donate Hadassah items.
