The 9th Annual Boston Chapter Art Auction Supporting Women's Cancer Research
Last Thursday, May 3rd, the Boston Chapter of Hadassah held its 9th Annual Art Auction for the benefit of breast and ovarian cancer research at the Hadassah Hospitals. This was a record year--78 people attended, 87 items were sold, and almost $3000 was raised for this important cause!

When Brenda Godfrey and her husband decided to make Aliya some 35 years ago, the UK born couple already had two grown up daughters. They packed their things into 12 suitcases, gave them to their daughters and said they will meet them in Israel. While the daughters flew with the baggage, the parents drove from London through France and Italy to Naples. From there they crossed the Mediterranean on a ship with their car to Haifa port, and drove again to the absorption center in Mevaseret Zion – their first home in Israel.

Last week, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) passed a resolution to establish a "Fact Finding Mission on the Influence of Settlements on Palestinians," prompting Israel to suspend all ties with the Council. Thirty-six countries voted in favor, the United States opposed and 10 abstained.

The Hadassah University Medical Center's 2012 Nancy Falchuk Nursing Scholarships were awarded in March to Odeya Tel-Tzur, Deputy Head Nurse at the Judy and Sidney Swartz Center for Emergency Medicine; Meirav Kiviti, Oncology Day Care Nurse at the Sharett Institute of Oncology; Yehudit Lalum-Har'el, Head Nurse in the Pediatric and Surgery Outpatient Clinic at Hadassah Hospital-Mount Scopus; and Sigalit Caspi, Head Nurse in the Emergency Room at Hadassah-Mt. Scopus. The Falchuk scholarship, which enables the nurses to pursue advanced study, conduct research or give a presentation at an international conference, was created through donations from Hadassah International units around the world in tribute to Outgoing Hadassah International President, Nancy Falchuk, when she completed her term in 2004.
