Hadassah Leadership Fellows FAQ

What is the Hadassah Leadership Fellows program?

Hadassah Leadership Fellows (HLF) is a leadership engagement program designed to inspire and cultivate future leaders by offering Fellows opportunities to grow and lead; to perform volunteer work for Hadassah and the larger community; and to acquire life-enhancing professional skills that will have a positive impact on every facet of the Fellows lives.

Why was the Hadassah Leadership Fellows established?

In the earlier 20th century, volunteerism was an accepted practice. Today, this reality has changed with the increasing numbers of women who have entered the workforce full-time as well as the myriad of volunteer opportunities available today. The result is a lack of young, Jewish professional women who can become its future leaders and successors. In response to this challenge, Hadassah is creating the Hadassah Leadership Fellows, to help establish a new volunteer experience for professional women to effect change in the world through actions.

What are the programmatic components of the Hadassah Leadership Fellows program?

Fellows will participate in 4 in-person programmatic components during Year 1 of the program: (*dates are approximate and subject to change)

December 8, 2013: Experience Hadassah's Impact—Past and Present. This program orientation will take place at the Center for Jewish History, NY. NY

During Year 2 of the HLF, Fellows will financially contribute a minimum of $1800.00 and participate on Impact Boards creating Hadassah vehicles of change. In addition to the financial commitment of each Fellow, Hadassah will give each Impact Board seed money to effect change or pilot a program of their choice.

The impact boards will focus on: Women's Health and Medical Research; Venture Capitalism and Investments; Women in Public Policy; and Social Justice/Global Humanitarianism, allowing the Fellows to apply their training into actions. The Impact Boards will be comprised of one-third Fellows, one-third Hadassah leaders and one-third experts.

How many Hadassah Leadership Fellows will be selected for the program?

We will select between 30 Fellows to join the first class of Hadassah Leadership Fellows and a second class of 30 Fellows in 2015.

When does the Hadassah Leadership Fellows program start?
