Pre-Convention

Associates Hotel Back of the House Tour* Group #1 1:00 pm—2:00 pm Group #2 2:00 pm—3:00 pm Group #3 3:00 pm—4:00 pm Take an escorted tour of "what makes the Venetian/Palazzo tick" – security, operations and more. You will be amazed. The same tour is being offered at three times on Monday afternoon. Registration fee of $10. Limited to 20 participants per group. Our Guardians and members of the Society of Major Donors are invited to Cocktails & Conversation, hosted by Marcie Natan, Hadassah National President. In an intimate setting, invited guests will have the opportunity to meet our Convention speakers and distinguished guests. The gala opening evening will be an unforgettable multimedia experience. It's all about powerful Jewish women, the passion that Hadassah evokes, and the Hadassah sisterhood that influences our personal and professional lives.

8:15 am—10:30 am Be INFORMED: National Business Meeting & Breakfast

(open to Delegates only) Exercise your status as an elected delegate and cast your vote to approve the National Officers and National Board and adopt amendments to Hadassah's Constitution. Participate in the discussion of issues concerning budget and policy statements. Make your voice heard.

8:15 am—10:30 am Associates Annual Business Meeting & Breakfast

(open to Associates only) All Associates elected as delegates are welcome to attend.

10:45 am—12 noon Plenary: The IMPACT of Hadassah : Hadassah Medical Organization

Hadassah Medical Organization is world renowned for advanced patient care and cutting-edge medical research. Hear from some of our outstanding doctors and their grateful patients about the miracles that happen every day at our hospitals in Jerusalem.

12:15—2:15 pm Concurrent Lunchtime Activities

You will be assigned either the Idea Marketplace or the Innovative Learning Sessions and experience both over the two days.

Innovative Learning Sessions

Pick up your lunch from the designated area on the 3rd floor and join with experts to develop specific skills, participate in an in-depth discussion, or spend this time studying with a scholar. The choice is yours!

Idea Marketplace and INTERACTIVE Experience Mini-Theaters
Join fellow delegates and guests for lunch in the Convention's central hub surrounding the main ballroom. Pick up your lunch and network with Convention attendees, meet our sponsors, and pick up some new ideas that you can take back to your community. Spend some time in one of the Mini-Theaters learning about fabulous events, tools and techniques that have been successful for chapters throughout the U.S.

Mini-Theater presentations will include:

  • Post, Share and Tweet—Social Media "101"
  • Vroom, Vroom… Texas Motorcycles
  • Celebrating the TaTas, BraVeaux and Bralapalooza (Breast Health Awareness)
  • M'dor L'dor—Capturing our Zionist History
  • A Virtual Tour of Be'ersheva with Hadassah and Jewish National Fund
  • Masterpiece Speakers Bureau

2:45 pm—4:15 pm Plenary: ISRAEL and the Middle East

Israel, always in the news, but not always in a positive light. What does the future hold for Israel? How can we engage the young people of today, and the future generations, to be proud of the country Israel is today? What will the Middle East be like in the future? Our panelists will include, Bret Louis Stephens, Pulitzer Prize winner, foreign affairs correspondent and deputy editorial page editor for the Wall Street Journal and Ari Shavit, author of the highly acclaimed My Promised Land.

4:15 pm—5:45 pm Plenary: An INTRIGUING INTERVIEW

You will not want to miss this engaging conversation between novelist Daniel Silva, best-selling author of international intrigue and espionage, and Jamie Gangel, national correspondent for The Today Show, NBC News - who happen to be husband and wife. Silva's highly anticipated new novel The Heist, scheduled for release just a few days before we meet in Las Vegas, finds the author's recurring hero, Gabriel Allon, off on another globetrotting adventure. Books will be on sale during the Convention, so you can get them personally signed by the author.

7:00 pm—Midnight HADASSAH MAJOR DONOR DINNER CELEBRATION
Honoring and thanking our Guardians, Society of Major Donors, Founders, and NEW Major Donors Celebrating the steadfast support of Hadassah's extraordinary work – made possible by the generosity of our major donors. 8:45 am—10:15 am Plenary: Be INVOLVED—Social Action/Tikkun Olam
Tikkun Olam and K'lal Yisrael are some of our core values. Hear a keynote speaker on Social Action and its importance in Jewish life as well as representatives from ThreeSquare, Las Vegas' food bank and Mazon – the Jewish Response to Hunger. We will be collecting NEW items to donate to the local community before and after this session.

10:30 am—11:45 am Plenary: The Philanthropic Power of Women
With energy and passion our panel of extraordinary women will motivate and inspire you as they explore cutting-edge ideas in the world of philanthropy. Discover how they are meeting the challenges of the current economic environment in new and creative ways. The session will conclude with the presentation of national membership, programming and fundraising awards.

Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions (BDS)—what do those words mean? How do they relate to entertainers refusing to perform in Israel; the academic science and medical communities no longer wishing to partner with Israeli colleagues and organizations; what our kids are hearing on campus and how they are responding? Understand the issues and learn what you can do to make a difference.

3:45 pm—5:30 pm Concurrent Forums Forum 1 Building Community: New Models for Outreach and Engagement
How can we, as Jews and as Hadassah members, look to new models of engagement? Hear from organizations that are implementing successful, exciting, innovative models. What can Hadassah learn from them?

Forum 2 Jewish Women of Tomorrow: Panel Discussion with the Newest Generation
Hear about Jewish identity and the major challenges and opportunities about being a young Jewish woman in 2014.

Forum 3 Israel, BDS and the Media
Spend time delving deeper into the discussion following the Plenary.

7:30 pm—11:00 pm The Banquet: Celebrating Hadassah , Honoring Israel's First Responders
Always a highlight of our National Convention, the Gala Closing Banquet will send you home filled with imagination, inspiration, and passion. Celebrate Hadassah's accomplishments. Hear from our National President, Marcie Natan, and special guests. Kvell as we honor Israel's First Responders with the Henrietta Szold Award—doctors from our own Hadassah Hospitals and members of the IDF Medical Corps. You will be reminded, once again, what an important role you play in the work of Hadassah here, in Israel, and across the globe. The Banquet will feature an elegant dinner, the lively music of Craig Taubman and his band, Craig & Co., and the spirited dancing that always closes the evening. Open only to full package participants or Banquet ticket holders. Couvert: $150 per person, if purchased separately from package. Pre—registration required. Note: Seating will be based on Regions and Big Chapter affiliation.
