Spring Forum 2012

Saturday, April 28, 2012

Central States Region of Hadassah held its annual Spring Forum on April 28-29, 2012 at the Embassy Suites Columbus Airport.  Most of  the delegates from chapters in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and West Virginia arrived in Columbus, Ohio, for the 4 pm Region Introductions and Region Board Meeting.  Tobe Snow, Spring Forum Chair, welcomed everyone and conducted an ice-breaker game in which everyone had to describe themselves, Hadassah and their favorite thing using a word starting with the first letter of their first name.  Many of the results were humorous and inspiring!

Teri Junker, Central States Region President, opened the Board meeting with a State of the Region address.  Paula Jarnicki, Recording Secretary, reviewed the minutes from the last Board meeting, Amy Perlman, Region Treasurer, gave her report, and Merry Lynne Lincove gave an update on the Centennial Convention in October in Israel.  There will be a Central States Region dinner at the Grill House on the Monday night of the Convention.  Then, Renee Sandler spoke about how Hadassah is aligning its Program year with the Fiscal year, starting from June 1, 2012 to December 31, 2013.  After that, all Program and Fiscal years will be January 1 - December 31.   Phyllis Berlas and Renee Resnik spoke about the new Strategic Alignment Plan and  Carol Ann Schwartz gave the Nominating Committee report.  Finally, Teri Junker explained the new Annual Plan and the Development Division Helpline.  The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 pm, and delegates enjoyed a free Happy Hour until 6 pm.

At 6 pm, Tobe Snow welcomed Dale Marcus, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist from Wichitaw, KA, who led a Personal Growth seminar, "Remember the Past, Embrace the Present and Look to the Future", dealing with the changes and challenges of being a Jewish woman leader in the 21st Century.
