Central States Region hopes to have a large delegation to National Convention which begins Monday evening, July 21 and ends with the banquet on Wednesday evening, July 23 at the Venetian/Palazzo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Convention Dates and Schedule:

·       Convention begins with the Gala Opening on Monday, July 21 at 7:30 pm followed by a Dessert Reception celebrating the 18th Anniversary of Keepers of the Gate

· Tuesday and Wednesday are filled with the National Business Meeting (and Associates meeting) plenaries and general sessions, lunchtime Innovative Learning workshops and the Idea Marketplace.

· Tuesday early evening are major donor events - Founders and Society of Major Donors

· Wednesday evening is the closing Banquet

Please be sure to let your members know that we will not be done til the late hours of the night on Wednesday. They should plan their return travel beginning on Thursday morning. Pre and post convention touring, travel and entertainment can be arranged directly through the Venetian concierge.

Convention Registration and Hotel Rooms

Convention registration and hotel reservations should open in March 2014. The names of those who sign up for convention and would like to be a delegate will be sent to each unit for confirmation of their status. Specific details will be sent out closer to the time registration opens.

Convention costs:

Full package prior to May 21 is $575. After that date -  $625

The full package includes one breakfast, 2 lunches, Banquet, Dessert reception and all materials

Special "duo" packages:

We have 100 packages for 2 people who register together and meet one of the following criteria:

  • Generational package – mom/daughter, aunt/niece, mother in law/daughter in law, member/associate
  • Attend with someone who has never been to convention – register with a first time delegate.  (you need not room together)

The cost of this package is $1000 for two and you must REGISTER TOGETHER. Please note that R/BC presidents are not eligible for either package as their costs will be covered.

Venetian/Palazzo room rates:
$164 single or double occupancy, inclusive of the resort fee (internet, fitness center, a coupon for coffee)
Triples and quads are available at an additional cost. Tax is additional.

Region and Big Chapter Dinners

Region dinner will be on MONDAY, JULY 21  from 5 to 7 pm.

Speakers to Date:

·       Plenery -Israel and the Middle East

  • Bret Stephens, Pulitzer Prize writer, columnist for foreign affairs and deputy editorial page editor at the Wall Street Journal AND 
  • Ari Shavit, Israeli columnist and writer, author of the highly acclaimed book My Promised Land

·       Banquet presentation of the Henrietta Szold award to Israel's First Responders, including doctors from Hadassah Hospital along with the Israel Defense Force.

·       Craig Taubman and his band, Craig&Co will perform at the Banquet Wednesday evening.

We have just confirmed that Daniel Silva, author of the Gabriel Allon series will be speaking at convention along with Jamie Gangel, NBC news correspondent (who just happen to be husband and wife) in a plenary entitled "AN INTRIGUING INTERVIEW."

Mr. Silva's newest book, The Heist will be coming out just days before convention. Books will beavailable for purchase and he will be signing those books. We are encouraging attendees to purchase the book at convention as Mr. Silva is not receiving an honorarium.  We are working on a preorder on the registration itself.

More speakers will be confirmed shortly. We can't wait to share them with you!
