Central States Region of Hadassah held its annual Spring Forum at
the Embassy Suites at Columbus, OH, Airport. Marcie Natan, Hadassah
National President, was not able to attend our
conference after all, but did talk with us by phone on Sunday to give a
first hand, on the ground report on the agreement that Hadassah has
arranged with the Israeli government. Renee Resnik followed up on
our Tri-Region Fall Conference last October in Chicago with Jeff Wilcox. Sandy
Goodman was Spring Forum Chair.
For those of you who attended
our Joint Fall Conference in Chicago, you are aware of the re-branding of
Hadassah that Jeff Wilcox and Renee Resnik introduced to us. On Saturday, Renee brought Phase 2 with her program, "How to Mobilize a Community" by finding a "cause". A "cause" is a solution, not an organization or an activity. The "cause" becomes our "brand" in our local communities, so each chapter may find their own cause to promote while pursuing our Jewish values of Tikkun Olam, Pikuach Nefesh, Klal
Yisrael and M'Dor L'Dor. A local cause must have a national link to Hadassah.
shaped a "working
session" for Central States Region and focused on how to form social
action agendas within our own
communities. As an example, the Columbus Chapter is partnering with
Dress for Success (DFS), a program
that furthers their social action agenda. Many other Region members
were able to participate by bringing shoes and purses to the meeting
that the Columbus Chapter can donate to DFS on the Region's behalf.
Sunday, the Presidents had a Breakfast Training with Merry Lynne
Lincove, and the Treasurers trained with Amy Perlman. At the Region
Board Meeting, awards were given to various chapters celebrating
their accomplishments this past year. Liz Morley and Michelle
Elisburg gave a PowerPoint presentation on their Youth Aliyah Mission to Poland, and
Renee Resnik did a quick recap of her program for the benefit of those
who weren't here on Saturday.
