Treasured Traditions
Rebecca Rubin
American Girl® Doll

Our Treasured Traditions Doll event was held on Sunday, March 7 at Temple Oheb Shalom
(a synagogue with a direct Hadassah link—Henrietta Szold’s father was the rabbi there from 1859 to 1892).

More than 60 girls ages
6 to 10 and their mothers/grandmothers enjoyed a delightful afternoon of crafts, cooking, music, dress-up and doll-time.

The program began at “Ellis Island,” where storyteller Katherine Lyons portraying Rebecca Rubin, described the life of a new Jewish immigrant in the 1920’s. After stops at other locations, such as Bubbe’s kitchen, Cousin Max’s movie studio, the schoolhouse and Coney Island the program concluded with a mother/daughter tea party, and “Orchard Street” shopping.

Thanks to chairs Michele Cooper and Amy Steinberg  and the planning committee for all of their hard work to make this program successful. A fabulous time was had by all!
