The Sister to Sister Foundation Partnership
In a joint effort to help women around the world learn how to better protect themselves against heart disease, Irene Pollin, founder and chairman of Sister to Sister, has donated this October a ten million dollar donation, to the Hadassah Medical Organization to establish the Linda Joy Pollin Cardiovascular Wellness Institute in Jerusalem.
The Pollin institute at Ein Kerem will encompass a comprehensive program of cardiologists, behavior specialists, nutritionists and fitness specialists. At the same time, the Sister to Sister foundation is also partnering with Hadassah locally to help women realize the destructive outcomes of heart disease.
Mrs. Irene Pollin established the foundation in 1999 to get the word out to women—especially to working women, who have no time to take care of themselves—that cardiac screenings are a key factor in heart disease prevention.
In 2013, Hadassah will introduce a new Cardiac Health and Wellness program featuring the Sister to Sister Foundation's Smart for the Heart Online Risk Assessment.
Smart for the Heart, is an online wellness program, launched by Sister to Sister in partnership with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, that can evaluate the risk for heart disease and provides specific recommendations and resources to address it. The program has been approved by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
