About Central States Region

The Central States Region Mission Statement

The Central States Region started almost 80 years ago with the formation of the Ohio chapter in 1925. The mission of the region is to organize, develop and strengthen Hadassah units by providing services that respond to the unit’s goals and needs, and to act as a liaison between the unit and National Hadassah.

Initially, the region consisted of all cities in Ohio with the exception of those near Pittsburgh. By 1927, the Akron, Barberton, Canton, Cleveland, Dayton, Findlay, Lorain, Toledo, Warren, Wooster and Youngstown chapters were chartered.  In 1928, region "chairmen" (now known as presidents) were part of the National Board of Hadassah for the first time.

Today, the Central States Region encompasses 10,000 members, associates and supporters in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and West Virginia.

The Region assists chapters with fundraising, education, membership, programming and leadership needs by supplying training, motivation and networking. We're very proud of our Region's longstanding reputation for progressive ideas and strong leadership, as evidenced by the fact that many Region leaders have gone on to assume National positions.

In addition to participating in Columbus Chapter activities, members are encouraged to attend Region meetings, strengthening your connection with Israel and Zionism. Hadassah offers women countless opportunities to change their lives . . . and change the world. We're committed to making a difference.
