Save the date for our biggest event of the year! Flutist Ariella Perlman will perform, and Adele Gutterman and her daughter, Renee Sandler, will be honored for their outstanding contributions to Hadassah. Raffle tickets will be available for a variety of fantastic prizes, including a Fabulous Furs throw and dinner certificates to Embers, Carraba's, Red in Hyde Park, Tellers, and J. Alexander's.
Ariella Perlman, a multi-faceted artist, flutist, jeweler, and singer, is honored to be performing for the Hadassah Donor Luncheon. A native New Yorker and daughter of famed violinist Itzhak Perlman, Ms. Perlman attended Juilliard Pre-College before earning a degree in flute performance from Rice University’s prestigious Shepherd School of Music in 2006, under the tutelage of Leone Buyse. She has recently performed with the Honolulu Symphony, toured Europe with Daniel Barenboim’s West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, and was viewed by twenty million people worldwide while performing on the Hour of Power broadcast at Orange County’s Crystal Cathedral.
Ms. Perlman is also an accomplished jeweler, specializing in unique and sophisticated wearable decoupage. Her pieces have been sold both at boutiques and private shows in Yellow Springs, Dayton, Houston, Los Angeles, and Sun Valley, Idaho, and were featured on TV’s American Idol. A selection of her jewelry will be available for purchase at the luncheon.
Ms. Perlman currently resides in Dayton, Ohio, where she concertizes, maintains a private studio of flute students, is Assistant Band Director at Oakwood Elementary and Middle Schools, and continues to create art from her home. She was married in June of 2009 to Robert Johnson, Principal Horn with the Dayton Philharmonic, and they have recently rescued a grateful kitten, Matzah Ball.
Many thanks to our business sponsors this year: Benchmark Outfitters on Kenwood Road, Anderson Printing, Embers Restaurant, Laura Paul Gallery, and Frame Concepts.
