Membership Zumba Party
|Wednesday, December 16, 2009|
On Wednesday morning, December 16th, over 20 Hadassah members met at The Ascent at Roebling's Bridge in Covington, KY, for a Membership Appreciation party. Members who joined Hadassah this year or became members at the event received free admission. Elece Kovel and Ellen Crowes were co-chairs for the event.
After members socialized and enjoyed a variety of light bites appetizers, Tobe Snow, President of Cincinnati Chapter of Hadassah, spoke to the group about Hadassah's latest projects and missions. Then Lorri Munafo, a licensed, certified Zumba instructor who also teaches at the JCC, led a 45-minute Zumba session for beginners.
Zumba is an exercise/dance class that fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms with easy-to-follow moves. Part dance, part aerobics, Zumba is an hour-long routine that works almost every muscle in the body. It was founded by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto "Beto" Perez. Perez decided to call the exercise Zumba, after the Colombian slang word meaning to buzz like a bee or move fast.
After the invigorating exercise, we went on a tour of an unfinished condo suite at the Ascent. The views were amazing!
