Donor Luncheon 4-6-2011

Cincinnati Chapter of Hadassah held its annual Donor Luncheon on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the Kenwood Country Club.  The Hadassah Boutique offered many fundraising items for sale, including "Matzel Toff", chocolate covered matzahs, Vasu plastic vases, certificates, cards and Centennial Key necklaces.  At 11:30 a.m., violinist Gayna Bassin and pianist Claire Lee performed a program of Jewish Melodies, including works by Zinovi Bistritzky, Naomi Shemer, Julius Chajes and Ernest Bloch.  For an encore, they played the theme from "Fiddler on the Roof".

Donor Chair Ghita Sarembok welcomed everyone.  Tobe Snow led the singing of Hatikvah and the Star Spangled Banner, and Carol Ann Schwartz gave the Invocation.  Teri Junker did the Hamotzi and then everyone enjoyed the sumptuous buffet lunch.  After dessert, Cincinnati Chapter Co-Presidents Sharon Casper and Bobbi Handwerger gave the President's Message, and Adele Gutterman gave a special presentation to long-time Hadassah member Rita Rothenberg, the event's honoree.  Rita then spoke very passionately about her commitments to Hadassah and the state of Israel.  Bess Swillinger, Cincinnati Chapter's retiring Office Manager, was also honored for her many years of service to Hadassah.

Carol Ann Schwartz and Bonnie Ullner spoke about an upcoming event related to how Hadassah Hospital saved Bonnie's daughter's life two years ago and the recent collaborations between Hadassah and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.  Then, Ghita Sarembok and Adele Gutterman led the Raffle drawing for a variety of exciting prizes, including dinner gift cards and beautiful jewelry.
