Coffee Talk 11-14-11
|Cincinnati Chapter of Hadassah presented Coffee Talk/Decaf Cafe on Monday, November 14th at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Sharon Casper, Cincinnati Chapter Co-President. New Hadassah life member Mindy Nemoff shared “bits & bytes” she has learned while editing a technical guide about computer basics. |
Everyone enjoyed light refreshments of fruit, chocolate chip pumpkin cake, and crackers and cheese. Then, as everyone settled into the living room, Coffee Talk Chair Tobe Snow welcomed everyone and spoke about some of Hadassah's projects in Israel. She introduced Mindy Nemoff, who talked about her professional background and how to protect one's self from “Phishing”, “Spoofing”, “SPAM”, and identity theft. She also explained some computer technical terms like URLs, I.P. addresses and key logger programs.
Mindy edited the book Understanding Technological Evidence for the Legal Professional: 101 the Basics, which was published in February 2011. The book was written by Nemoff’s friend, Liora Farkovitz. Ms. Farkovitz and Ms. Nemoff have just completed The Electronic Advantage – Course 101: The Basics, which is the first of 14 companion courses to the book. This course will be offered to judges, attorneys, law enforcement and the general public, with a percentage of the funds going to benefit the National Domestic Violence Registry.
Vasus, reusable plastic vases made in Israel, were available for purchase at the event. Hadassah gift cards and certificates and purse hangers were also on sale.
