Membership Event 1-31-13
On Thursday January 31, at 6 pm, over 30 young women -- some Hadassah members and some not -- got together at "The Art of Entertaining" in O’Bryonville. The event was organized by the Hadassah Membership Committee as a way for young Cincinnati Jewish women, who are interested in joining Hadassah or who are already members but are not active, to learn a bit more about the organization and have fun at the same time!
The young women –from their 20s to their 40s – met up with old friends and made some new ones, as everyone casually schmoozed and ate and drank and talked in the very laid back and unique atmosphere of "The Art of Entertaining". They were also able to swing by the open kitchen at any point to see what the chefs were preparing next for the group, and ask questions about what they were making or how they were making it.
Chapter President Bonnie Juran Ullner and National Board member Carol Ann Schwartz made a brief presentation about the mission of Hadassah, and why the women should consider joining or becoming more active. Six women joined that night (3 annual and 3 lifetime) and two more expressed interest in doing so. The evening was a great success and luckily everyone got home safely as they were met with a snow storm upon leaving around 9.
The next event will be in May, and will be a wine tasting in member Sarah Wise’s backyard. Evites will go out in April or May. Sarah Wise, along with Laura Berger, are the new co-chairs of the Membership Committee, taking over for Bonnie Juran Ullner, who will stay on the committee as a member. Sarah and Laura are open to suggestion as to what might attract new members or what might get inactive members more involved, so feel free to email them at Laurabberger@yahoo.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
