The New Orleans Chapter of Hadassah is holding a gala event, “Bra-Veaux,” on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. at Crescent City Auction Gallery, 1330 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans.

Serving as celebrity Master of Ceremonies is actor Rob Steinberg, who plays the role of the man who saves the slave in Steve McQueen’s acclaimed film starring Brad Pitt,12 Years a Slave, opening in October and already getting Oscar buzz. Steinberg has also appeared as a recurring character on the HBO series, Treme, and has comedy and improv credentials, as well as producing and writing.

Bra-Veaux! An Uplifting Event will increase awareness about breast cancer and benefit Hadassah, the women’s Zionist organization of America, which supports groundbreaking cancer research at Hadassah Medical Organization, with among the most prolific researchers in the world.

Professional artists have created original artworks, which will be displayed and auctioned at Bra-Veaux! Amateur art bras will be displayed, auctioned and judged by attendees for prettiest, funniest and most creative. A 2014 calendar with professional and amateur works will be available for purchase after the event.

The event, which is open to the public, will include libations, voluptuous appetizers and desserts created by Honeybee Catering, a live art auction, silent bra auction, entertainment by The Siren Sisters singers, and raffle prizes galore.

Ordinary women + Artists = Extraordinary strides in cancer research!

Bra-veaux is not just the New Orleans way to spell ‘Bravo’ — it is the name of a party with a purpose. Bra-Veaux will be held on Saturday, October 12, from 7:30–10:30 p.m. at the Crescent City Auction Gallery, 1330 St. Charles Ave.

Summoning up their talents honed in making years of Mardi Gras costumes, professional artists and crafty Hadassah members will be creating decorated bras that will be judged for their awesomeness, auctioned off to raise funds for Hadassah, and then featured in a 2014 calendar. Some will be modeled during the event, which will feature appetizers and desserts. Attendees will be the judges of the amateur bras and will cast their votes by ballots provided to them at the event.

A Hadassah bra-making party for our members and friends will be held on August 25,12:30pm-4:30 pm, at the Goldring-Wolderberg Jewish Community Center: 3747 West Esplanade Avenue, Metairie, where we will wield our hot glue guns together to make amazing bras. Cost of the Bra-making party is $10, which includes supplies and refreshments.

Yet Bra-Veaux has a more serious purpose: to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for Hadassah.
