The Health Professionals group has members who hail from all over metro Atlanta and range in age from 24 to 65 plus. Our members are affiliated with the health professions as nurses, physicians, pharmacists, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, public health workers, radiology technologists, social workers, electrologists, dental hygienists and professionals in other allied health fields. Our programs are health oriented and timely with member or guest speakers sharing their expertise and experiences on health issues of interest to our members.

Our next event is our Mitzvah Day Hanukkah Party on December 21, 2014 at 2 pm that we make for Sunrise at Huntcliff Assisted Living on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. Once again we will be gifting the residents with gifts, dreidels and chocolate gelt. We will sing songs, light the menorah and all enjoy latkes and applesauce. This year part of our group will also be making a Hanukkah Party for Sunrise at Buckhead Assisted Living on the same day and time. Health Professionals had a very successful Sweet Sixteen Party on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Nancy G 's Cafe. We had a wonderful attendance, delicious food and every past President was honored with a framed Hadassah Certificate of Appreciation and a long stemmed pink rose. Sue Rothstein attended and installed our new officers for 2015 in a beautiful ceremony.
Health Professionals of Greater Atlanta Hadassah Enjoy Uplifting Program in Observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month: On Sunday afternoon, October 19, 2014, members and guests of the Greater Atlanta Hadassah’s Health Professionals Group experienceda truly Up-Lifting Program. Dr. Rachel Schonberger spoke on new medical advances at Hadassah Medical Organization. Barbara Lang presented information about a new and creative Greater Atlanta Hadassah program to be held February 28, 2015 at the Westside Cultural Arts Center: Breast Strokes, Hadassah Bares All for A.R.T. (Awareness, Research & Treatment). The women of Greater Atlanta Hadassah are raising money for groundbreaking breast cancer research at Hadassah Medical Center, in an innovative and unforgettable way. We completed the afternoon by becoming Designing Women as we created Beautiful, Bedazzled, and Beguiling BRAS for the Hadassah Up-Lift Initiative. The meeting was held at ADULT DAY of Dunwoody in Dunwoody, Georgia. On Sunday, April 27, 2014 the Health Professionals Group had a program on Summer Skin Sensations at the Cancer Support Community at 5775 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Building C, Suite 225. Our Membership Vice President Ellen Sichel gave us a tour of the facility and explained the work she does at the facility. Our Co-President, Marci Abrams, a Pharmacist, gave a talk about protecting your skin in the summer and year round from Skin Cancer. She focused on Sunscreen Protection and their differences. Then we viewed a Hadassah Video "Stewart Greenberg" about his battle with Melanoma and how the Hadassah Hospital in Israel saved his life. This was a moving and amazing story. We also enjoyed a delicious dairy pot luck lunch.
The Health Professionals had a very successful program on Sunday, February 16, 2014. We had a healthy pot luck dairy lunch followed by our speaker Maxine Taylor, who gave a terrific presentation on Astrology, Judaism, & Health - the Cosmic Connections. Maxine Taylor is an internationally-known astrologer and was the first one to be licensed in Atlanta. Her practice has evolved to energy and spiritual healing and coaching. A published author and speaker, Maxine uses a combination of proven techniques to empower her clients to fulfill their personal destinies. On Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 2:30 pm we had our Annual Mitzvah Day where we make a Hanukkah Party for the residents of Sunrise Assisted Living at Huntcliff on Roswell Road in Atlanta. We supplied gifts for each resident, along with Hanukkah Gelt and Dreidels. We served Latkes with sour cream and applesauce, jelly donuts, and fruit salad and soft drinks. We entertained the residents by lighting the Hanukkah Menorah and singing Hanukkah songs. This year the singing was led by Marsha Hildebrand and Anne Davis. We had a wonderful turnout and everyone had a nice time.
Twenty-two hadassah members and guests enjoyed the Health Professionals Fall Program Meeting, Life-Changing Solutions, Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the home of Co-President Marci Abrams in Marietta. HP Member and Author Ellen Sichel, Owner of Custom Calm (www.customcalm.com) spoke to us about Stress Management and how we can lessen our own stress and cope with the difficulties we encounter in our daily lives.
On August 25, 2013 the Health Professionals group had a terrific Kick-Off event at the home of Joyce Tritt. A delicious kosher dairy lunch was enjoyed by all prepared by Joyce and arranged by Cindy Sedran. We all enjoyed a wonderful movie "Making Trouble" about Jewish Women comedians that was very funny and informative . The program was planned by our Vice President of Programming, Anne Davis.
Our June meeting was a celebration of our successes and recognition of those who contributed through program assistance and their level of giving. Toby Parker gave a us inspiring examples of how our donations improve the lives of those touched by Hadassah worldwide.
Dr. Russell Rosenberg presented on Solutions for Sleep Problems at our April meeting in the conference center of Fusion Sleep and Neurotrials research. The presentation and discussion were fascinating and we all learned on both a professional and personal level.
The Women's Heart Health Forum on Sunday, February 17, 2013 was a huge success with record attendance of about 190 people; excellent speakers especially Dr Nanette Wenger and Marsha Hildebrand; special guests, Nancy Falchuk, 24th Hadassah National President, and Susan Gurley, Executive Director of Sister to Sister; and a extensive silent auction and great exhibitors. Our Co-chairs Marsha Hildebrand and Lee Tanenbaum did an outstanding job and our Silent Auction Co-chairs Cyvia Zinney and Lori Sugarman went all out.
Our Kick-off meeting and Movie on September 9, 2012 was a huge success. We had a great turn-out, a wonderful lunch supplied by Joyce Tritt at her lovely home, and a marvelous movie Israel Inside – How a Small Nation Makes a Big Difference which was very informative and exceptionally well done. We all enjoyed the movie and highly recommend it.
