The Ketura group of women reside mainly from metro Atlanta's Northern Arc including:  Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Doraville, Northeast Atlanta, East Cobb, and Buckhead. Ketura projects include Mitzvah Day, knitting and crocheting for a local women’s shelter, theater nights, cooking classes, and monthly day and evening book groups. Evening, Sunday functions and some weekdays. All Ages.

Variety Entertainment Books Sales Resume: The sale of Variety Entertainment Books is being reinstated with Elaine Clein to resume as chair. The books are selling for a reduced price of $13 until the end of January, after which the brand-new books

Knit and Crochet:   Members create knitted and crocheted pieces and collect toiletries, women’s and children’s clothing, household items, and toys for the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children, Inc. on the first Tuesday evening of each month from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. The next meeting will take place on December 9 at the home of Elaine Clein.   Members from other Greater Atlanta Hadassah groups are welcome to join us. For more information on creating and/or donating items, please contact chairperson, Reba Herzfeld at 770-394-3731 or

October 26, 2014Art & Soul Pottery Studio: Ketura members had a lovely afternoon painting a pottery piece of their choosing while schmoozing and enjoying munchies and beverages. Pieces chosen included Jewish Star shaped dishes, Jewish Star shaped box, travel "mug", chip n' dip bowl and a cupcake-shaped jar with cover.

September 27, 2014 – Movie Night: Fifty-plus Members, Associates, and guests attended Ketura Group’s Havdalah Film Café. It was an evening of fun, camaraderie, pizza and refreshments. The movie shown was "Making Trouble," which spans more than a century of theatre, film and television history with female comic pioneers: Molly Picon, Fanny Brice, Sophie Tucker, Joan Rivers, Gilda Radner, and Wendy Wasserstein.

July 13, 2014 – Social Splash:
Good friends, good food, and good weather combined to make a fun afternoon at the lovely home and pool of Maxine and Jonathan Schein. Todah rabah to our gracious hostess, Maxine; to Esther Low, who accepted RSVPs and coordinated the delectable dishes brought for sharing; to Sybil Ginsburg, who delivered Reina Neurnberger’s educational moment and brought us up to date on Hadassah’s response to the situation in Israel; and to Doug Friedman who grilled the hot dogs and hamburgers. A special thanks goes to our co-VP of programming, Marj Friedman who organized the event and made sure everything ran smoothly.

May 8, 2014Game Night: Marj Friedman chaired a night of camaraderie and games  that took place at the lovely home of Janet Beerman. We snacked and learned new skills playing Charades, Pictionary and Big Boggle. Since “EVERYONE IS A WINNER!", at the close of the evening each guest received an iridescent colored egg filled with “award medals”: Gold- chocolate Hanukkah gelt; Silver-York Peppermint Patty; and Bronze-Twix Bar – a sweet ending to a fun night out!

April 3, 2014 - Latest CPR Techniques Demonstrated and Explained:  In conjunction with Every Beat Counts: Hadassah's Heart Health Program™ Ketura Group hosted Benjamin B/H. Karp, MA, President of Georgia CPR, LLC, who explained and demonstrated the latest basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques. Ketura members and guests learned the basics of these potential life-saving techniques through hands-on practice and scenario-based learning. Check out the company’s website at more information.

March 2, 2014 - Ketura Group Visits Museum:  The Ketura Group and guests enjoyed a visit to the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville. The docent-led tour of the museum included many works of art depicting the American West. Highlighting the afternoon was the Susan Kaslow Friedland exhibit, Windows of the Soul: A Portrait of America. Ms. Friedland spoke to the group about her exhibit and her background as a photographer and artist. Her exhibition is a visual journey across America featuring over 30 mixed media works depicting everyday life and runs through April 6. For more information on Ms. Frieldand, visit

January 12, 2014 -  L’Chaim: “Managing Priorities” was the theme of the fourth annual L’Chaim program presented by the Ketura Group. Panelists were: Miriam Rosenbaum, Jewish educator and leader, who provided a framework for establishing spiritual priorities; Linda Diamond, owner, CEO of Captured Clutter...organizing therapy LLC, who provided organizing strategies to improve the efficiency and beauty of home or office; Ellen Sichel, CEO of Custom Calm, LLC and author of Splash Into Calm,who provided strategies to regain a sense of calm, control and play in our daily lives; and Bill Loventhal, financial advisor at Northwestern Mutual, who provided means to identify and implement financial goals.

KETURA HADASSAH INSTALLS NEW BOARD:  On the evening of December 5, 2013 members and guests of the Greater Atlanta Hadassah’s Ketura Group convened at the Mirage Restaurant to celebrate the installation of 2014 officers. Sheila Dalmat, a former Ketura president and group advisor, performed the installation of the new board headed by Annie Kohut, president, in a candle-lighting ceremony. Other highlights of the evening included a framed certificate and gifts from the board presented by Annie Kohut to Sybil Ginsburg, outgoing co-president, and recognition of Ketura’s newest Keepers of the Gate, a special Hadassah giving designation. Sue and Alan Rothstein were honored as Keepers Angels for issuing a matching gift challenge for new and increased level Keepers of the Gate in memory of Alan's mother, Leona Rothstein. The event was coordinated by Dorothy Scherr.  

Hanukkah Celebration for Huntcliff Summit - Dec. 1, 2013: In collaboration with the staff at Huntcliff Summit, Ketura held its annual Hanukkah party for the residents of Huntcliff Summit. Lively Hanukkah music along with Broadway and Jewish favorites presented by songstress, Hani Stempler, and accompanist, Judy Boehm, entertained the guests. Of course, the occasion would not have been complete without the lighting of the candles followed by refreshments, which included latkes and jelly donut holes!
