Opportunities for Giving
The "2013 Opportunities for Giving: A Compendium of Information for Hadassah Members, Leaders, and the Curious" is now available online. Many of our Hadassah board members and committee chairs receive a flood of wonderful and welcome information from and about Hadassah. No doubt it sometimes can be too much of a good thing. It can be information overload.
To help organize the different opportunities for giving programs in effect for 2014, we have designed this Compendium to summarize the programs, to indicate where you can find more information and provide links when possible, to answer FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) about popular programs, and even provide modifiable promotional information to make it easier to move ahead with opportunities for giving programs. Our intent is to update this document periodically and make it available on this webpage.
Make your personal, positive impact where it means the most to you. Choose from more than a dozen areas. Choose the one that speaks to your heart. Your generous gift is a tangible affirmation of your commitment to Hadassah and to Israel in our 101st year.
Don’t miss this year’s “No-Show” Ball Fundraiser. The event is virtual, but the need is real. Please support Hadassah and return your “RSVP” card with your contribution. If you need an additional copy of the No Show Ball “invitation” or if you would like to make your contribution by credit card over the phone, please call the Hadassah office at 678-443-2961.

Circle of Recognition Birthday Club.
The Circle of Recognition is an annual giving program available to members of the Southeastern Region of Hadassah. “Circle” members pledge to donate – as long as they are able – $100 per year (Heroine/Hero), $250 per year (Visionary) or $500 per year (Architect of the Future). Your contributions are credited to your Hadassah Group’s fundraising goal. New this year is the Circle of Recognition “Birthday Club.” You can give yourself – or a loved one – a birthday present that continues to support Hadassah year after year by making your annual contribution around the date of your birthday (or your loved one’s birthday). Your annual donation becomes a “birthday gift” that gives to others and helps change lives. Convenient automatic monthly credit card payment plans are also available. If you have questions or wish to enroll over the phone with a credit card, please contact Judy Serkin in the Hadassah office at 678-443-2961.
MAKING YOUR DONATION COUNT! Have you thought about becoming a Keeper of the Gate, helping Hadassah with the gift of $1000 a year? Whether you pay that in a lump sum or in several checks during the year or you arrange a monthly automatic payment (it’s only $84 each month), it's a fabulous way to support Hadassah - and get a great looking pin in the bargain. Whether you've been thinking about it or not, though, now is the BEST time to start! Thanks to the newly inaugurated Keeper of the Gate Matching Gift Initiative, your $1000 will be matched by a very generous donation from from Dr. Alan and Sue Rothstein given in the memory of Alan’s mother Leona. Alan and Sue’s donation will match the $1000 from each new Keeper in the SE Region. It will also match the increased amount of every current Keeper who "steps up"; e.g., moving from regular Keeper ($1000) to Chai Keeper ($1800+). Finally, the $1000 from any Keeper who reactivates after a lapse of three years or more will be matched, as well, by the Rothstein Gift - all up to the total amount of $18,000. In short, when you become a Keeper right now, your $1000 becomes $2000, thanks to this generous initiative. Make your donation count twice - contact your group Keepers chair or Addie Schneider, Greater Atlanta Keepers Chair at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Cards and Tributes, Certificates, and E-Cards: These are one of the easiest ways to show your support for Hadassah. We offer attractive greeting cards and certificates for all occasions (including cards for a new baby, sympathy, birthday, get well, bat/bar mitzvah, all occasion, and memorials). Don't go to CVS or Wal-Mart when you can support Hadassah. Certificates are available for donations as little as $10 up to over $1800 and can be designated toward any project you desire. How about that special anniversary or birthday to support the Tower campaign? Now you have TWO options to send a certificate to your friends or family. You can go the traditional route and send a hard copy certificate that will be mailed for you (order online or call your group's card/certificate coordinator or Judy Serkin in the GAH office at 678-443-2961) OR you can GO GREEN and take advantage of our new eCertificates that allow you send an email version of the certificate of your choice, which can then be printed on a home printer. Make sure you indicate Greater Atlanta Hadassah as your chapter if you order online.
Your Name in Israel: Your name on a brick, or a wall, or a tile at Hadassah Medical Organization symbolizes a life we have yet to save. Add your name—or honor, or memorialize, someone you love. Choose where to make your impact. Choose where to inscribe your name.
• Centennial Bricks or Heart Health Bricks on the Centennial Path in Miriam’s Garden, Ein Kerem
• Cheerful tiles brightening the hallways of Hadassah’s hospitals at Ein Kerem and Mount Scopus
• Walls of Honor in Ein Kerem (Research Patron’s Wall, Wall of Healing, Wall of Promise)
Donations start at $1,000. Donations are payable over 12 months.
Perpetual Yahrzeit: Who will say Kaddish? A Rabbi, under the auspices of Hadassah. Where? Beneath the beautiful stained glass windows by Marc Chagall in the Fannie and Maxwell Abbell Synagogue at the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center in Jerusalem. When? Annually, on the Yahrzeit date, in accordance with the Hebrew calendar. Your donation will benefit the Hadassah Medical Organization and enable Hadassah to continue its pre-eminent role in healing, teaching and research. What better way to pay your respect to your loved ones than to give a life-affirming gift in their memory.
Plant A Tree in Israel: Plant a tree—or a dozen, or more—today. Since 1926, through generous donors like you, we have partnered with Jewish National Fund (JNF) to drain swamplands, plant forests, develop water resources and preserve Israel’s ecology.
Since April 1, 2013, all Hadassah units throughout the country – including our Greater Atlanta Hadassah office have been selling JNF trees for $18 each. Please be sure to remit $18 (payable to Hadassah) if you pay for your trees by check. The GAH office can also accept tree orders over the phone (678-443-2961) with a credit card payment. A generous price-break is available to you for a three-tree certificate: those will still be $36 instead of increasing to $54.
You may also purchase JNF trees (at $18/each) on-line. On-line ordering offers price-breaks on five- and 10-tree certificates. Please call Judy Serkin in the GAH office if you have any questions. Thank you for your continued support of Hadassah and the JNF.
A Personal Message from Rita Loventhal, Major Gifts Chair & Chair of the Southeastern Area Development Center
Dear Hadassah Friends,
Your decision to support the work of Hadassah, to make your personal IMPACT, creates just such a ripple and the effect can be felt far beyond your own 4 walls. The ripple is felt in Israel, in your own family and community, and throughout the world. The ripple creates its own IMPACT on Hadassah research, youth programs, membership and advocacy.
The CHOOSE YOUR IMPACT campaign provides a menu of compelling areas from which to choose:
I am here to help you select what speaks to YOU. I look forward to that conversation.
Hadassah needs all our support in ways large and small. I want to mention a few other opportunities you may not have considered.
1- Art: We now have a unique relationship with the well known auction house Christies. Can you donate a piece of art to help us soar? Let me tell you more.
3- Life insurance: Name Hadassah the beneficiary of all or part of a policy you may no longer need for other planning purposes. Easy to do and again fulfills a future need.
Let me help you find a way to fulfill your dream of becoming a true benefactor of Hadassah—and repair the world as well. Future generations will thank you.
Rita Loventhal, Major Gifts Chair SE Region
