New Partnerships help expand Hadassah College Jerusalem's Clinics
The Claire & Emanuel G. Rosenblatt Clinic for Communications Disorders is an integral part of the clinical education program for students at Hadassah College Jerusalem. Encompassing three clinics, Audiology, Otolaryngology and Speech and Language Therapy, the clinic provides students with the framework for a well-rounded education and training in their respective field. Students work with a broad range of patients from infants to adults. Since 2001, HCJ has prepared over 150 practitioners in the field throughout Israel.
The Audiology Clinic performs hearing tests and hearing aid fittings. The Speech and Language Clinic performs evaluations and provides therapy for speech and language disorders. Recently, they began treating adults with neurological problems (e.g., Parkinson's disease, post-stroke problems) for speech, language and swallowing dysfunction. The Adler Aphasia Center in Jerusalem will become part of the Rosenblatt Clinic. It is in its pre-operational phase and it will be modeled after the award winning Adler Aphasia Center of New Jersey.
HCJ is collaborating with the Department of Communication Disorders at Teachers College, Columbia University and with the Audiology and Speech Pathology Division at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. These partnerships will offer research opportunities for faculty and student exchanges. Prof. Jaclyn Spitzer of Columbia University spent ten days in Jerusalem conducting workshops and research with our faculty.
The Rosenblatt Clinic is an important resource for both the College and the community. Gifts of $300 or more are needed to cover testing costs and supplies. For more information, please contact Nanette Shane email firstname.lastname@example.org
