September 2016 Associates Update

Show Your Ongoing Commitment
The work of medical research at HMO benefits not just Israelis, but the entire world. Research in Service to Humanity does not occur in a vacuum. We need an ongoing, sustained commitment from each and every Associate. Join the Hadassah "Chai Society" by committing to donate $180 annually-- only $15 per month. Or you can become a Silver Chai Society member for $360 annually--$30 per month. These continual donations make it possible for Hadassah to realistically budget in advance, which is so important for the medical researchers. Please join this effort.

LATKES & VODKA: Get Ready for Hanukkah!
With December quickly approaching, many of us are already thinking about Hanukkah and how we can create successful events that bring our communities together while raising money for a good cause.

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel – consider organizing a "Latkes & Vodka" event, like the one Hadassah Southern California held to benefit our Men's Health Initiative, with a focus on heart disease and prostate cancer.

Over 80 men and women attended Latkes & Vodka, the first-of-its-kind event for the Hadassah Southern California Associates. The evening featured several kinds of latkes, appetizers, desserts, and vodka-inspired drinks.

Steven Hochstadt and Stephen Sass shared their riveting personal story of survival. Guests heard how Hadassah doctors saved Steven’s life after he had a stroke while vacationing in Israel. Stephen addressed the audience with a heartfelt and powerful Call to Action, challenging attendees to open their hearts and make a difference by giving generously. Both Hadassah Associates and Founders, Steven and Stephen announced a Challenge Grant in which they would match all donations made at the event, up to $10,000. The event raised over $28,000, thanks to the generous commitment of both men, and the know-how of Sandi Sadikoff, Hadassah Southern California, and Michelle Shahon, Long Beach/Orange County Area Director, the event raised over $28,000!

Planning to be in LA in November 2016? Join Hadassah Southern California for the Second Annual Latkes & Vodka.
