September 2015 Associates Update

Tuesday, Sep 1 2015

Jeff Richardson, Associates President

Our Associates Update has been well received and we will continue to provide interesting and stimulating articles and news from our Associate groups throughout the country. There have been many terrific Associates events going on in conjunction with local chapters and regions including a very successful walk-a-thon in Nassau County, and golf tournaments in Southern New Jersey and Washington D.C. In this month's update you can read about Associates who were honored at a Suffolk Region event. November Associates events include a Hoedown in Greater Miami and Hadassah's first ever Hold-Em tournament in Chicago. And we can't forget the Associates' trip to Israel this mid-October. There are two openings left for anyone who will like to participate in this outstanding Associates Mission. If there's anything you'd like included in the next Associates Update please forward it to me at jrichardson@hadassah.org and I'll be happy to include it.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish our Associates and their loved ones a happy and sweet New Year.

Shalom

Honoring Hadassah Suffolk's Anchors on its Eastern Shore

On Wednesday, May 20, 2015 the Suffolk Region held a special region luncheon celebrating their women members and their men Associates.  The President of Hadassah Suffolk, Phyllis Abramson, strongly believes in the importance of the Associates to Hadassah. Phyllis stated, "Hadassah women and our men Associates were honored for long term affiliation and commitment to Hadassah with service, support, or both over many years.  We honored Associates to put them on the front burner as Suffolk participants over the years, either in their own right or encouraging their wives with continuous support."

Held on Suffolk's east shore of Long Island, there were five Associates honored at this luncheon, Joel Hershkin, Israel Kleinberg, Lee Koppelman, Norman Pinchuk and Meyer Steinberg along with seven Hadassah members for their years of dedicated service and generosity to Hadassah's mission and projects. The day's festivities included two speakers, Hadassah National President elect and coordinator of the PRAZE division, Ellen Hershkin, and Dr. Eric Mandel, Founder and Director of MEPIN, Middle East Political and Information Network. Both spoke about Zionism and the state of the Middle East from their individual perspectives.

The program for this event also included a page dedicated to these men which covered Associates history and accomplishments. This Associates tribute summed up why Hadassah Suffolk values their Associates by stating, "Associates support Hadassah, the Jewish People and the State of Israel by expanding relationships and identifying new sources of funds. They are the Men behind all we do." With about 100 people in attendance, Hadassah Suffolk raised needed funds for Hadassah and engaged their Region members and Associates. More importantly, they did this while acknowledging the actions and the value of their influential, Hadassah Suffolk Associates.
