I live in Johns Creek, Ga which is formerly Alpharetta and neighbors Roswell, Norcross, Cumming and Marietta. I have been married to the greatest husband in the world for 30 years and we have 2 wonderful children...Steven, 27 who lives in Ft. Lauderdale and Julie, 24 who lives in Orlando. Both kids are doing great with their careers and loving life which means I'm loving life, too! .

What keeps you busy?

I just completed my 29th year of teaching middle school Health and Physical Education in Dekalb County (where I also grew up) and I coach the girl's tennis team at the high school. I've coached many different sports but have found that tennis is the greatest one of them all! I am about to embark on my final year of teaching which will then allow me more time to devote to volunteering and working with Hadassah.

What are your interests/hobbies?

I have many interests but, lately, I have found that tennis, walking me 2 precious pups, and working with the local dog rescue group have kept me plenty busy. I also am a huge fan of photography and love capturing special moments.

Why did you become a member?

Caryn Gartner

I became a member because of Jill Stenzler. I met Jill in 1979 as we were pledge sisters in AEPHI at University of Florida. We stayed tight friends for all these years and enjoyed weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs of our children and other sorority sister's children, and traveled together as well. Over 10 years ago, Jill began her battle with ovarian cancer and I can't even begin to tell you her story of courage, strength and the sheer desire to hang on for her 2 beautiful girls and husband Greg.  Through all this, Jill worked as a nurse and also spoke about her volunteer work with Hadassah. I was very unfamiliar with Hadassah but enjoyed hearing all about her work and devotion to the educational program.  I later found out that Jill was a pivotal leader with the Check It Out educational seminars in Tampa.  She received quite the applause and award from Hadassah not too long ago for her dedication and hard work to get the word out about prevention and detection of breast cancer.  The horrible and sad part to this story is that we lost Jill this past New Year's Eve day, Dec. 31, 2014 and, because of her, I became a lifetime member to honor her memory and hope to get involved with the program that she loved so much.

One thing we should know about you.

The thing most people know about me is that, despite the fact that I'm an Atlanta native, I am passionate about the Gator Nation!!! I have thoroughly enjoyed the Every Step Counts Walking program...it was the perfect way for me to take my first steps with Hadassah!

What keeps you busy?

Being a mom keeps me busy, mentally and physically! I also work part-time as an accountant in Manhattan. I spend free time with friends and family including my 103 year-old grandmother.

What are your interests/hobbies?

I love to read, exercise and socialize. Spending time with my children is the favorite part of my day. Being a member in Ester Chapter of Hadassah and other organizations also gives me great enjoyment.

Why did you become a member?

I believe strongly in Tikkun Olam (World Repair). By becoming a member, I feel that I have done a small part in making the world a better place. I hope that everyone realizes that their small acts of kindness, mitzvot and volunteer work go a long way and ultimately make a difference in other people's lives.

One thing we should know about you.

I'm so thankful to Hashem for granting me more than my fair share of happiness, joy and comfort. By giving my time or expertise to Hadassah, I gain so much more back in new friendships, knowledge and learning about new experiences. Being a member has been the greatest gift to me and my family.
