HMO Women's Health Centers & Clinics
Linda Joy Pollin Cardiovascular Wellness Center for Women
The Linda Joy Pollin Cardiovascular Wellness Center for Women increases awareness of heart disease as the top cause of death and illness in women throughout Israel—but also as a disease that can often be preventable through living a heart healthy lifestyle. The center is actively engaged in basic science and clinical research concerning gender health issues, as well as expanding its influence with outreach to local Jewish and Arab women, education in East and West Jerusalem schools, and advocacy for women’s health at the Knesset.
Marlene Greenebaum Multidisciplinary Diagnostic Breast Center
The Marlene Greenebaum Multidisciplinary Diagnostic Breast Center takes a holistic approach – integrating breast cancer diagnostics, treatment, and research in a single location. Hadassah has been at the forefront of discovering and developing diagnostic testing for BRCA mutations, which increase patients’ risk for breast cancer. In conjunction with the Sharett Institute of Oncology, Hadassah is focused on the role inherited traits play in developing breast cancer, the specific biology of each tumor to better tailor therapy, and the examination of patients' blood for circulating tumor DNA.
Labor and Delivery & Julia Goldwurm Maternity Pavilion
At Mount Scopus, the new family-friendly, state-of-the-art labor and delivery unit is fully equipped with the most up-to-date technology and medical devices to ensure a safe and healthy delivery. The Julia Goldwurm Maternity Pavilion in fetal health and maternal services, part of the Charlotte R. Bloomberg Mother and Child Center, has been serving mothers from Jerusalem and surrounding areas since 1996. Multidisciplinary clinics on both campuses provide specialized care for women with higher-risk pregnancies. Those giving birth at Hadassah also have access to the Natural Birthing Center, Hadassah Birthing Club, Maternity Hotel and more.
Hadassah’s Fertility Treatment Clinic, with IVF unit, at Ein Kerem is considered one of the leading units in Israel – known for its treatments, professional service, variety of techniques and relatively low costs. The Rimon Mind/Body Fertility Center at Hadassah Mount Scopus is renowned for providing women with holistic care that addresses the physical and psychological factors for fertility. Hadassah physicians have been at the vanguard of infertility treatments for decades and pioneered the use of preimplantation genetic testing. The fertility clinics also work closely with Hadassah’s Ovum Donation and Preservation Program, Genetic Counseling Clinic, and Cytogenetic Laboratory.
Patricia and Russell Fleischman Center for Women's Health
The Patricia and Russell Fleischmann Women's Health Center includes a unique one-stop shop for comprehensive exams, as well as specialized life-stage clinics, focusing on adolescence, reproductive years, mid-life, and golden age. Each clinic has a research, medical, and socioeducational component, providing health information to the public. The multidisciplinary one-stop clinic enables women to have every series of tests that their age and situation require--within one visit. They can also, during that visit, receive professional health advice from various medical specialists.
Sex Differences & Gender Medicine
For many conditions, women and men have different risk factors, symptoms and incidence. Medical research has disproportionately focused on male biology, which can lead to misdiagnosis and compromised care for women. Researchers and clinicians at HMO further women’s health equity and promote women’s unique health needs through research, trainings, community education, and advocacy. The Linda Joy Pollin Cardiovascular Wellness Center for Women issued a declaration that calls on policymakers and stakeholders to work to reduce cardiovascular disease in women and the center director, Dr. Donna Zvat-Zwas, is a vocal proponent for studying and raising awareness about sex differences.
