Roe v. Wade Turns 47: Speak Out for Women’s Health | Advocacy Update: 1.21

Tuesday, Jan 21 2020

The Fight For Reproductive Rights Goes On
Tomorrow we mark 47 years since the Supreme Court of the United States' landmark Roe v. Wade decision. Yet the future of our reproductive rights are uncertain as the Supreme Court gets ready to hear a case that could mean major setbacks for women's health and rights.

Last year, states enacted over 50 pieces of legislation that ban or restrict women's access to reproductive health services. Together, we participated in a Day of Action with rallies across the country last May and we came together in July on the streets of New York to make our voices heard.

Take Action

Hadassah stands unequivocally for a woman's right to choose. We support empowering women with the knowledge to make critical health decisions for themselves and their families. We must keep speaking out.

  • Act now. Contact your state and federal legislators and urge them to support women's health and take proactive steps to protect women's reproductive rights, like cosponsoring the Women's Health Protection Act.
  • Spread the word on social media. Let your friends and family know why reproductive rights is so important to you. Post, comment and add our Women's Rights Are Human Rights frame to your Facebook profile picture!
  • Save the Date: March 4, 2020. Stay tuned for more information about how to join Hadassah — online and across the country — as we mobilize while the Supreme Court hears oral arguments in June Medical Services v. Gee. The case is regarding a Louisiana law that would place onerous and medically unnecessary regulations on clinics and physicians, eliminating nearly all access to abortion care throughout the state.
