HADASSAH FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD LEADERSHIP

NEW YORK, NY —The Hadassah Foundation is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has elected a new slate of officers and welcomed four new members. 

The new board chair is Roz Garber Toledano of Chestnut Hill, MA, the former President and CEO of Garber Travel Services, a former director of the Boston Chapter of Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, and Assistant Director of the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts.

“This is an exciting time to be Chair of the Board,” said Garber Toledano. “The Foundation’s recent growth has positioned us to play a much more influential role among philanthropies focusing on Jewish women and organizations promoting gender equality in Israel and the United States.”

The other newly elected officers are:

  • Vice Chair – Audrey Weiner of Miami Beach, FL, and Lenox, MA, and former CEO and President of The New Jewish Home, one of New York City’s largest elder care systems;
  • Treasurer – Ellen Soffar Steinberg of Charleston, SC, Magistrate for Charleston County; and
  • Secretary – Tracey Spiegelman of Coral Gables, FL, a professional in the field of luxury residential real estate.  

As of January 1, the Foundation has four new board members who bring a diverse array of experience and knowledge:

  • Michele Foster of Upper Gwynedd, PA, who is Chair of American Affairs in the Advocacy Division of Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America;
  • Deborah S. Meyer of Philadelphia, PA, the founder and outgoing CEO of Moving Traditions, a nonprofit that helps Jewish young people by fostering self-discovery, challenging sexism and inspiring a commitment to Jewish life and learning; 
  • Rabbi Marianne Novak of Skokie, IL, a teacher of Judaic Studies at Akiba-Schechter Day School; and
  • Mindy Petock Bloom ofWinston-Salem, NC, who is Chief Development Officer of Ronald McDonald House Piedmont Triad, Inc., in Winston-Salem, which provides housing for the families of children receiving treatment in local hospitals.

Said Foundation director Stephanie Bluemenkranz: “I am thrilled to welcome these remarkable women to the Hadassah Foundation board. Trailblazers in their fields, they have broken glass ceilings, built national organizations and led social change.”
