Welcome to Hadassah Southern Nevada Chapter
Hadassah Sukkot Greeting

Chag Sukkot Sameach!

It's a new Jewish Year and we hope you had an easy and meaningful Yom Kippur. Tonight begins the holiday of Sukkot, a harvest festival of thanks giving. So we give thanks for all of you, our Hadassah sisters, who make this Chapter so amazing! There are so many opportunities to connect through online events, including another Hadassah Havdalah October 17th. We hope to see you there!

From our President

Julie Ostrovsky President

President’s Message:
Hello, Everyone!

Sukkot commemorates the years that the Jews spent in the desert on their way to the Promised Land, and celebrates the way in which God protected them under difficult desert conditions. I believe this message rings true today as well.
As we embark on my favorite holiday I am happy that our weather will be perfect and my family will be together, but this will be the first time in three years I have not had my Hadassah sisters in the Sukkah with me. I will miss our time in person, but I know we will be together in spirit. Sukkot is a joyful holiday and justifiably referred to as zeman simchateynu, the “season of our joy.”

May your holiday and your year be filled with joy.

Shana Tova,

October 27th at 12 pm Selection: "The Star and the Shamrock", by Jean Grainger  Erich Bannon is happy in the small Irish village he has thought of as home since he arrived as a terrified, traumatised seven year old, one of the last Jewish children to escape Berlin in 1939. Now at twenty-three, it feels like all of his friends are drawn to The Promised Land, and he can understand why, but Israel is not for him. One by one, they leave, and Erich is bereft. He feels lost but a chance encounter with an Irish Catholic girl gives him hope. All he and Róisín want is to be allowed to love each other but the traditions and rules of their backgrounds forbid it. READ MORE
