Behind the Scenes look at The Branch podcast with host Dina Kraft
Join us for an incredible and thought-provoking event on Tuesday evening, December 17, with Dina Kraft, veteran journalist and host of the 5-star Hadassah podcast, The Branch. Dina will be joined by Stephanie Butnick, Tablet deputy editor and Unorthodox co-host, and Josh Kross, producer of several podcasts including The Branch, and Tablet’s Unorthodox.
Currently based in Tel Aviv, Dina is a renowned expert on current Israeli politics and culture, and a gifted storyteller who brings us into the lives of the very real women, men and youth working toward peaceful coexistence in Israel, the heart of The Branch. 360 Degrees of Healing
Hadassah Medical Organization, founded by Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, Inc. has defined health care in Israel. It’s about compassion. It’s about healing. It’s about life.
Hadassah is the founder of Israel’s modern health-care system and has been tireless in maintaining the highest standards for more than 100 years. Since 1960, the population of Jerusalem has tripled, and the demands on the Hadassah Medical Organization (HMO) and Hadassah Hospital at the Ein Kerem campus have grown exponentially. Hadassah must respond—and we must look forward. So HMO begins, first by completely reimagining the iconic Round Building, the hospital’s original inpatient center at Ein Kerem. With this renovation and expansion, the new Round Building will be an important healing center for Israel. It will significantly advance the services in its outpatient surgery, maternity, oncology, and dermatology departments.
How to Talk About Israel
Hadassah is often asked for advice about the appropriate way to respond to criticism of Israel from news articles, editorials, television and radio programs, speakers at public forums, and small group gatherings which frequently include individuals from multiple religious faiths. As Hadassah members and leaders, we support the democratically elected Government of Israel. We strive to understand the intricacies of the situation in the Middle East and be articulate and diplomatic advocates for Israel.
You can download a helpful guide and learn how to respond to challenging questions about Israel by going to “My Hadassah” and searching for “How to Talk about Israel” under Zionist Education.

Book and Author Luncheon
September 11, 2019
On Sept 11, Suffolk Region of Hadassah held an outstanding Book and Author Luncheon at Jefferson's Ferry, Long Island. Our very own National Board Member, Elizabeth L. Fox, edited and annotated the book, We are Going to be Lucky - a World War II Love Story in Letters. Together with her husband, Sid, she read highlights from letters her mother and father, wrote to each other while he was stationed in Europe, during the war. This was an inspiring and incredible experience for all who were able to attend. WE were so lucky to have this special event.
October 24, 2019
On October 24, 2019 we installed our new Region President JoAnne Shapiro and honored Claire Baer with the Life Time Achievement Award. We also heard from Rabbi Moskowitz, a dynamic speaker and prolific writer. He shared his immense knowledge of antisemitism and offered suggestions of what we can do in response to this threat.
