Featured Plenaries

The Second Battle: Rehabilitation

Our brave IDF soldiers fight for the survival of the State of Israel and all of its people. But those who suffer serious injuries fight their second battle to regain function and independence through rehabilitation. In this plenary, you will hear firsthand stories of the rehabilitation process in our state-of-the-art Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus.

Navigating Threats to Reproductive Freedom in 2025

A recent study from the Gender Equity Policy Institute found that women in states with abortion bans are twice as likely to die during pregnancy. Maternal health outcomes are suffering, and funding, research and protections for women’s health and reproductive choice are under attack in many states and nationally. We’ll be joined by healthcare professionals, advocates for reproductive freedom and policy experts, all leaders in their fields, who’ll give us an inside look at how providers and patients are navigating threats to reproductive freedom and feeling the impact of restrictions to these essential healthcare services. This conversation focuses on how Hadassah can continue to advocate for the full spectrum of reproductive care, ranging from abortion to IVF, and champion access to lifesaving medical care for all.

Panelists: Allison Tombros Korman, Dr. Mimi Zieman & Elana Frank

Elana Frank

Allison Tombros Korman (she/her) brings two decades of nonprofit leadership in reproductive health and rights and organizational strategy to her role as founder of the Red Tent Fund. As founding executive director of Culture of Respect, she led a groundbreaking national initiative to end campus sexual violence. She later served as senior operations and strategy director at the DC Abortion Fund until resigning in 2023 in response to antisemitic conduct by staff and board. Throughout her career, she has designed and implemented strategic programs for major organizations, including USAID, CDC and the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals.
Korman holds a master of health sciences from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a BA in English and women’s studies from the University of Michigan. She has additional certifications in Restorative Justice Facilitation from the University of San Diego and Executive Facilitation from Georgetown University.

Dr. Mimi Zieman is an OB/GYN, mother, reproductive rights advocate and author of Tap Dancing on Everest, selected as the Best Memoir of 2024 by The American Writing Awards. She serves on the boards of the Jewish Women’s Archive and the National Council of Jewish Women Atlanta, which honored her with the Women Who Dare Award. She has also written the play The Post-Roe Monologues and the medical guide Managing Contraception, and her essays have appeared in major publications. Learn more at www.mimiziemanmd.com.

Elana Frank, entrepreneur and mom to three boys through IVF and embryo donation, helps intended parents navigate becoming parents through her nonprofit, the Jewish Fertility Foundation (JFF). Cost, education and access were tremendous obstacles for this “unspoken” issue in the Jewish community, so she rallied countless like-minded people to create JFF. She has raised almost $8 million, trained 1000+ community and healthcare leaders in infertility sensitivity, matched up hundreds of people with “fertility buddies,” allocated more than $2.7 million in fertility grants, “birthed” 255+ babies, with 94 babies on the way, operates in 10 hubs, and is now scaling JFF nationally.

From Shield to Scapegoat: Jewish Literature's Past, Present and Future

Lisa Hostein, Hadassah Magazine’s executive editor, moderates a special episode of Hadassah Magazine Presents with a panel of prestigious literary insiders discussing the challenges and opportunities facing Jewish authors amid the current climate of rising antisemitism. The conversation will explore how Jewish literature has evolved — from serving as a gateway to Jewish acceptance in American society to becoming a target of boycotts and cancel culture. Are American Jewish and Israeli authors, along with Jewish-themed books, facing greater difficulty getting published since October 7, 2023? Are there new options and opportunities, or is the situation all bleak? These questions and more will be explored in depth.

Combating Antisemitism

This plenary will examine the rise of antisemitism on college campuses, the role of social media in amplifying harmful rhetoric and its global spread. We will explore the responsibilities of institutions, activists and individuals in combating antisemitism by challenging this dangerous trend, promoting education and fostering inclusivity worldwide.

Sen. Dafna Michaelson Jenet
Jaclyn Clark
Elizabeth Rand

Sen. Dafna Michaelson Jenet serves as president pro tempore in the Colorado State Senate after seven years in the House of Representatives. Her legislative work focuses on youth mental health, healthcare access and foster youth advocacy. Inspired by her son's suicide attempt at age 9, she created the groundbreaking iMatter program, providing six free therapy sessions to school-aged children, which has served over 15,000 Colorado youth. Sen. Michaelson Jenet recently passed historic legislation mandating Holocaust and genocide education in Colorado high schools. She previously served as director of the Holocaust Awareness Institute at the University of Denver and director of March of the Living for New York. She is a former president of the Hadassah Denver Chapter, and she had served on the Desert Mountain Region Board. Jaclyn Clark is a Florida-based attorney who serves as counsel at The Lawfare Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating antisemitism through strategic litigation and advocacy. Clark joined The Lawfare Project in June of 2024 after working as an employment law litigator in private practice for nearly a decade. After spending the greater part of her career defending Fortune 500 companies against employment discrimination claims, it was especially jarring for Clark to witness the double standards and selective outrage applied toward Israel and the Jewish people in the aftermath of October 7, 2023. She was inspired to use her legal experience to help defend the civil rights of the Jewish people as a result.

Elizabeth Rand is the founder of Mothers Against College Antisemitism and president of the MACA Foundation.
Rand was leading an ordinary life when, on October 26, 2023, she created Mothers Against College Antisemitism (MACA). After being in other Jewish groups and seeing the sadness and despair over the post-October 7 situation on college campuses, she launched the group to give Jewish moms and others a place to share information and brainstorm solutions to the problems faced by Jewish college students. In December 2024, the group became The MACA Foundation, a 501(c)(3). Professionally, Rand is an attorney at a large insurance company.

Labors of Love: The Life and Legacy of Henrietta Szold

Hadassah presents a screening of the compelling documentary Labors of Love: The Life and Legacy of Henrietta Szold by Peabody Award-winning director — and distant cousin of Szold's — Abby Ginzberg. This marks only the film's second public viewing since its July 2025 premiere at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Ginzberg. The film follows Ginzberg's journey to better understand the woman who, in her family, was the "famous Szold," accomplishing so much as the founder of Hadassah, the administrator of Youth Aliyah and the person responsible for helping to bring public health to Palestine. Through archival footage, photos and interviews with scholars and Hadassah's own Barbara Goldstein and Barbara Sofer, the film brings Szold to life, introducing new generations to her life and legacy.
