Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, Inc., has traditionally been committed to the Jewish ideal of a just society. To that end, Hadassah has consistently supported a Federal social and economic "safety net" for all Americans.  Hadassah opposes current attempts to end the Federal commitment to essential social welfare programs.

If such programs are devolved to the jurisdiction of the state governments, Hadassah calls for the creation of a set of fair and consistent guidelines to govern their implementation. Hadassah believes that without such guidelines, citizens may be subject to unequal treatment based upon where they live.

Though we are mindful of the long-term necessity for Federal deficit reduction and the elimination of wasteful or ineffective programs, Hadassah opposes any efforts that result in Federal budget cuts falling disproportionately on our most vulnerable citizens.

Hadassah's Policy Statements represent the organization's official stance on a wide variety of issues facing our nation, Israel and other international matters of concern. Policy Statements are debated and voted on at national meetings by Hadassah’s national board and delegates from our membership. Once approved, statements become official policies of the organization and serve to define Hadassah's overall agenda and advocacy priorities. Hadassah, as a charitable organization classified under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, is prohibited from any direct or indirect support of, or opposition to, candidates for public office.
