Hadassah Announces New Executive Committee Members

New York, NY (April 12, 2022) – Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, is proud to announce that Peg Elefant, Valerie Lowenstein and Jill Sapperstein are the newest members of the Executive Committee of Hadassah’s National Board, with the title of National Vice President.

During more than four decades as a Hadassah volunteer leader, Peg Elefant, a member of Hadassah’s Long Beach-Orange County Chapter, has held many leadership positions. Nationally, she has been Curriculum Developer and Chair for Building Hadassah Community, Leadership Vice-Chair and Online Training Chair. She has served as President, Leadership Chair and Education Chair for the Pacific Northwest Region; President of the Seattle Chapter; and President (two terms), Program Chair (two terms), Secretary and Board Member-at-Large of the Corvallis Chapter. She and her husband, Steven, are Keepers of the Gate. Their daughter, Sharon, is a Hadassah Life Member and their son, Daniel, is a Hadassah Associate (a male member of Hadassah).

Volunteer leader Valerie Lowenstein is a member and past president of the Boston Chapter, sits on the board of its Landy Kaplan Nurses Council and is a member of the national Nurses and Allied Health Professional Council. She is a member of the Ethics Committee, has served as Chair of the Stewardship Committee and Vice Chair of the Hadassah Travel Committee and has sat on the national Governance, Constitution and Strategic Planning committees. At the Boston Chapter she received the Hadassah Leadership Award and the Volunteer of the Year award, from Landy Kaplan Nurses Council.  She and her husband, Arnold, are Keepers of the Gate and members of the Society of Major Donors. They are the proud parents of Jeremy and Daniel, both Hadassah Associates.

Jill Sapperstein is a member of the Greater Baltimore Chapter, where she has held the positions of President, Vice President of Fundraising, Treasurer and President of the Tikvah Chapter. She served as National Chair of the Operations Division, was a member of the National Board and the National Portfolio Council and chaired the 1988 National Young Leaders Institute. She is a Golden Keeper of the Gate and a member of the Society of Major Donors. She and her husband, Louis, are members of Hadassah’s Legacy and Chai societies.

In addition to the new Executive Committee officers, the National Assembly elected the following people to Hadassah’s National Board: Phyllis J. Abramson, Joyce Backman, Sara Efron, Ruth Ann Freedman, Sheila Glass, Lynn Gold-Benjamin, Michelle Goldberg, Jill B. Goldstone, Carole Greenfield, Debbie Knight, Rebecca Krasnegor, Robin Shuman and Dana Waxler.
