Hadassah, The Women's Zionist Organization of America, released the following statement on behalf of National President Carol Ann Schwartz:
“As the United States marks the 250th anniversary of its independence, Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, celebrates this remarkable milestone and reflects on the ideals that have shaped our nation: liberty, opportunity and the pursuit of a more just society.
“The American story has always been one of aspiration, hard work and tenacity. Over its history, our country has been strengthened by people working together to broaden the promise of our democracy.
“Hadassah has always been a part of the American story. In 1912, Henrietta Szold founded Hadassah and mobilized women across the country to take collective action for the good of people far beyond the borders of their own communities, harnessing the energy of American volunteerism to make the world a better place. That spirit of grassroots leadership and global responsibility continues to fuel our work every day.
“Today, Hadassah is the largest Jewish women’s and women’s Zionist organization in the United States. We empower women to act, we foster an enduring connection between the US and Israel and we advocate for policies that advance women’s health, public health and the fight against antisemitism. At the same time, we continue to work to support and sustain our hospital system — the only American-owned hospital system in Israel, demonstrating our commitment to innovation, humanitarian care and international partnership.
“As we commemorate this day, Hadassah celebrates the freedoms and opportunities that make our work possible and the transformative achievements of our country over the last two-and-a-half centuries. May our nation continue to flourish for generations to come.”
