NEW YORK, NY – In response to the announcement that the United States has accepted Israel into the Visa Waiver Program, Hadassah National President Rhoda Smolow and CEO Naomi Adler issued the following statement:

“Hadassah celebrates Israel’s historic acceptance into the US Visa Waiver Program, for which our members strongly advocated. Israel’s participation will further strengthen the US-Israel alliance, accelerate the cultural exchange between the two nations and make it easier for doctors at the Hadassah Medical Organization to collaborate with US colleagues to advance shared goals, share best practices face-to-face and advance critical medical research. For Hadassah’s youth programs and the beloved Young Judaea youth movement, this move will facilitate greater interaction between American and Israeli young people and lower participation barriers for counselors and educators.”

For more than a century, what is now the Hadassah Medical Organization, the Jerusalem-based hospital system owned by Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, has set the standard for excellence in medical care and clinical research in Israel. The expertise, experience and ingenuity of Hadassah’s doctors and scientists have resulted in innovative solutions in all areas of medicine, including therapeutics, diagnostic tools, medical devices and digital health. In September 2023, Newsweek once again named Hadassah a world leader in cardiology, oncology and smart technologies.

Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, Inc. (HWZOA), is the largest Jewish women’s organization in the United States. With nearly 300,000 members, Associates and supporters, HWZOA brings women together to effect change and advocate on such critical issues as ensuring the security of Israel, combating antisemitism and promoting women’s health. Through the two hospitals of the Hadassah Medical Organization (HMO) in Jerusalem, HWZOA helps support both exemplary care for more than one million people every year and world-renowned medical research. HMO serves without regard to race, religion or nationality and earned a Nobel Peace Prize nomination in 2005 for building bridges to peace through medicine.
