NEW YORK, NY — For the fourth consecutive year, Candid has awarded its Gold Seal of Transparency to Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America. Fewer than two percent of the 1.8 million US charities tracked by Candid have been given the Gold Seal.
With a total of 1.9 million charities registered with the Internal Revenue Service, the honor positions Hadassah as one of the nation’s most trusted philanthropies.
Candid, the world’s largest source of information on American nonprofit organizations, sets the standard for American nonprofits’ transparency and data-sharing. The organization reserves the Gold Seal for nonprofits that go above and beyond what is legally mandated, volunteering the most detailed level of information about their finances, leadership, board and staff demographics, mission, programs and impact.
Hadassah is America’s largest Jewish women’s organization, with nearly 300,000 members, donors and supporters. Hadassah brings women together to effect change on such critical issues as ensuring Israel’s security and maintaining a strong US-Israel relationship, combating antisemitism and promoting women’s health equity. Through its Jerusalem-based hospital system, the Hadassah Medical Organization, Hadassah supports exemplary care and world-class medical research.
“Candid’s recognition underscores our commitment to openness and integrity and tells our donors that their contributions are being responsibly used to advance Hadassah’s mission,” said Carol Ann Schwartz, National President. “The Gold Seal also lets our stakeholders know that Hadassah is determined to maintain an equitable and diverse work environment in which every employee feels valued and respected.”
