NEW YORK, NY - Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, National President Rhoda Smolow and CEO/Executive Director Janice Weinman released the following joint statement today after seven new co-sponsors signed onto the Never Again Education Act (S. 2085) so far this month, bringing the total number of co-sponsors joining lead sponsor Senator Jacky Rosen to 54.

The bill establishes a new federal program and fund to award Holocaust education grants to educational institutions around the country offering classes, resources, teacher training, and field trips to all students. “Over half of the US Senate has signed onto the bipartisan Never Again Education Act, sending a clear and strong message that hate and intolerance run contrary to our American values. Hadassah thanks Senator Rosen and the 54 co-sponsors of the Never Again Education Act for their firm commitment to pushing back against anti-Semitism and extremism and building a safer, more tolerant society for future generations. “A recent survey shows that Americans are forgetting about the Holocaust, opening the door for anti-Semitic rhetoric and actions to re-emerge in the mainstream. Ending bigotry and hatred begins with education. The Never Again Education Act will provide funding to equip educators with the resources for training and materials they need to ensure that comprehensive Holocaust education is made available in our schools. We will continue working with Members of Congress to ensure that this bill is passed and signed into law.”
