Message from the Northern New England Region/ Chapter President

Welcome to Hadassah Northern New England, home to 20 chapters and over 8,000 members. Bridging many different geographical locales, we are home to Western and Upstate New York, as well as the New England states of Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

Taking advantage of virtual technology, we have found ways to close the distances between us and create an active, engaged community of women working together to further Hadassah’s lifesaving work in the US, Israel and around the world.

I am a first-generation member of Hadassah, having joined this great organization about 15 years ago. I won’t, however, be the last, as my daughter is also joining Hadassah. Being a part of Hadassah — supporting and championing Israel, fighting against antisemitism and anti-Zionism and advocating for women and women’s health — is as fulfilling for me as I am sure it is for so many other Hadassah members.

Hadassah is vital to Israel. We operate two hospitals in Jerusalem, where we are the city’s second-largest employer. In addition to our hospitals, Hadassah runs two Youth Aliyah villages in Israel for local and vulnerable teens.

Hadassah understands. We understand that at our hospitals, we are treating the whole person, the whole family. We understand that the youths we support and protect are the future of Israel. Since the massacre on October 7, 2023, Hadassah has, as usual, jumped into action, opening the Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus months ahead of schedule, focusing on both the physical and mental health of our patients and their families.

Our chapters and volunteers work tirelessly and imaginatively to create programming to engage our members and support Hadassah’s projects in Israel and the US. We bring this collaborative approach throughout the year, both online and in person. I am so proud to be part of an organization whose mission(s) is simply to do good for Israel, for Jews and for women everywhere. We would love to include you in this effort. Join us today.
