Act for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Department of Defense oversees many Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs, including the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program. The Senate version of the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2018 includes language that jeopardizes this program. Urge Congress to protect crucial research initiatives and increase investments in medical research.

Combating BDS - Zionist Advocacy in Action!
On September 19, Hadassah Northern New Jersey and the Simon Wiesenthal Center urged the Millburn New Jersey Township Committee to adopt an anti-Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) resolution. Gail Black, President of Hadassah Northern New Jersey, introduced the draft resolution, which was covered by the local media. The resolution calls for the "condemning of all efforts to delegitimize the State of Israel and the global movement to boycott, divest from and sanction the people of Israel." Earlier this month, Hadassah Northern New Jersey and the Simon Wiesenthal Center helped pass this draft resolution in West Caldwell Township, and are working to get it passed in other communities. Your advocacy efforts are making a difference!

Make your voice heard!Urge Congress to cosponsor and support the BDS Act of 2017 and the Israel Anti-Boycott Act.

Caregiving Bill Gains Momentum

Thanks to your support the RAISE Family Caregivers Act passed the Senate on September 26! The RAISE Family Caregivers Act would mandate a National Family Caregiving Strategy and convene a Family Caregiving Advisory Council to address this crucial issue. Approximately 40 million Americans, three-fifths of whom are women, provide unpaid care for an adult relative or friend—exacting a professional, financial, emotional, and physical toll on caregivers and their families. Continue the momentum by urging your Representative to support this critical legislation.

House Votes to Curtail Reproductive Rights
Later today, the House is expected to vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This bill would impose a national ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy without exceptions for fetal anomalies or situations in which the woman faces severe threats by her pregnancy. Speak out for women's health and reproductive choice!
