Hadassah Physician Turns to SodaStream to Ease COVID-19 Patients' Breathing

How’s this for thinking outside of the box? Seeking a better device than the invasive ventilator to ease COVID-19 patients’ breathing difficulties, Dr. Akiva Nachshon, an intensive care physician at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, is collaborating with the Israeli company SodaStream, makers of the popular countertop machine that carbonates water in seconds, to develop a new device. Designed to be used on patients moderately ill with the virus, the machine, named StreamO2, would free up ventilators for the more seriously ill. Currently, StreamO2, approved by the Israeli Ministry of Health, is being tested in a 40-patient clinical trial. To read more, click here.
