Hadassah Spine Surgeon Chosen to Participate in Mexico's Gifted Citizen Event

Hadassah Medical Organization spine surgeon Dr. Joshua Schroeder, who performed the world’s first dual robotic surgery with intercommunicating robots, was selected as one of 18 international candidates for the Gifted Citizen Prize at Mexico’s international Gifted Citizen Event  in Mexico City.

The Gifted Citizen Prize recognizes creativity and innovation in science, technology, education, and ecology, as well as promotion of sustainable economic development and the defense of human rights. It encourages social entrepreneurship projects that will impact millions of people in the not-so-distant future. This year’s 18 candidates represent initiatives that have the potential to improve life for 10 million people over the next six years.

Each candidate gave a presentation about his or her innovation and then answered questions posed by a panel of renowned Mexican citizens. After all the presentations had been heard, 160 judges, including businesspeople, investors, and organizational and media leaders, voted for their choice of the most innovative project.

The winner of the Gifted Citizen Prize was Costa Rican Christian Marín Müller, who is investigating a new therapy for pancreatic cancer.
