Hadassah Statement on Iran and Emergency Preparations at Hadassah Hospitals and Youth Villages
Moving to Safety: Babies in the neonatal intensive care unit at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem being transferred to safety at Hadassah's underground hospital facilities, as part of preparations for retaliation from Iran.

Last night, Israel deployed preemptive and precise military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities to protect Israel and its citizens from the existential threat of Iran’s nuclear and ballistic program, which is an imminent danger to Israel, the Middle East, the US and the world. We are grateful for a strong US-Israel relationship and that the US has expressed support for Israel’s right to defend itself against a nuclear Iran.

Over the past few days, Hadassah hospitals have prepared for this possibility and are now in full emergency mode, ready to respond to evolving needs.

  • Early this morning, patients at Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus and Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem — including the entire neonatal intensive care unit — were safely transferred to the campuses’ underground hospitals, which are fully operational and equipped to provide ongoing lifesaving and critical care.
  • For the first time since it was readied in October 2023, the underground hospital at the Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Hadassah Mount Scopus is in use and filled with patients who have been moved there to safely receive ongoing care.
  • Patients able to go home have been discharged, and elective surgeries have been postponed, while the most critical patients are still hospitalized.
  • The Hadassah Medical Organization is holding an urgent blood drive today, calling on Type O donors to give blood at Hadassah Ein Kerem’s blood bank.

Thankfully, our Hadassah family is safe, including the students and faculty at our Meir Shfeyah and Hadassah Neurim Youth Aliyah villages. Most of the students have returned home, while international boarding students remain and will be with staff members 24/7 for their physical and psychological safety. Both villages have implemented crisis measures and have new and upgraded bomb shelters because of your generosity.

Your support enables us to continue to act swiftly to protect and heal the people of Israel.

At this difficult time, help us meet Israel’s most urgent needs.

Hadassah stands with the people of Israel. If there has ever been a time to support Israel, it is now! Together We Will Heal. B’Yachad Nerapeh.
