Hadassah Study: Virtual Reality Reduces Anxiety During Egg Freezing

A new Hadassah Medical Organization study investigates the impact of exposure to virtual reality (VR) on the anxiety levels of patients undergoing egg freezing, also known as oocyte cryopreservation.

Thirty patients participated in the trial at Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus’ IVF Clinic, with one group assigned to routine management and the other undergoing a 20-minute VR session. During the session, they watched scenic movies before entering the operating room for egg retrieval.

Results show that VR exposure significantly reduced anxiety, while anxiety levels increased with routine management.

The study was published in the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics.
